\n\tA new television spot for Christopher Nolan\u2018s much-hyped epic The Odyssey<\/em> gives viewers a first glimpse at a character played by none other than 10-time Grammy-nominated rapper Travis Scott.<\/p>\n \n\tIn the minute-long teaser, which aired during Fox\u2019s Sunday broadcast of the AFC Championship matchup between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos, a familiar scene featuring Jon Bernthal\u2019s Menelaus and Tom Holland\u2019s Telemachus is interrupted by Scott, who silences the mess hall with the booming taps of a staff to warn of an impending war.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cA war, a man, a trick \u2014 a trick to break the walls of Troy,\u201d he announces, as the trailer teases images of the great Trojan War. \u201cIt burning, screaming to the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe star-studded adaptation of Homer\u2019s seminal work boasts Matt Damon as the eponymous hero Odysseus, with co-stars Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong\u2019o, Robert Pattinson, Benny Safdie,\u00a0Charlize Theron, Himesh Patel, Elliott Page, Bill Irwin and Samantha Morton\u00a0rounding out the cast.<\/p>\n \n\tNolan has previously collaborated with Scott, who contributed the theme song \u201cTHE PLAN\u201d to the soundtrack for 2020\u2019s Tenet.<\/em> The two-time Oscar-winning director told GQ<\/em> that year that the Utopia <\/em>musician\u2019s \u201cvoice became the final piece of a yearlong puzzle. His insights into the musical and narrative mechanism [composer] Ludwig G\u00f6ransson and I were building were immediate, insightful, and profound.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tShortly after the release of the cerebral action sci-fi flick starring John David Washington and Pattinson, Scott shared a handwritten note given to him by Nolan, which praised the songwriter\u2019s video for \u201cFRANCHISE\u201d that was being shown ahead of certain Imax screenings for Tenet.<\/em> <\/p>\n \n\tThe two also share a passion for cinemas, as Scott recently shared in a profile with Rolling Stone<\/em> the importance of safeguarding the theatergoing experience. Nolan, now head of the DGA, has been vocal over the years about being anti streaming-only movies.<\/p>\n \n\tThough much has been kept under wraps regarding the project, first-look images and teasers have drummed up increasing interest in Nolan\u2019s take on the ancient poem, which traces Odysseus, King of Ithaca, on his dangerous journey home after the Trojan War. To return home to his wife Penelope, he must traverse the treacherous oceans and face off against Grecian mythological giants like Polyphemus the Cyclops, Sirens, the nymph Calypso and the witch goddess Circe.<\/p>\n \n\tUniversal is set to release the film in theaters in Imax July 17.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
