Luke Grimes<\/strong> publicly teased his interest in having a Yellowstone<\/em> spinoff with onscreen wife Kelsey Asbille<\/strong> \u2014 before his Marshals<\/em> series hinted at Monica\u2019s possible death.<\/p>\n

The costars discussed Kayce (Grimes) and Monica\u2019s (Asbille) future together when Yellowstone came to an end in November 2024 following five seasons. Asbille, 34, remained hopeful about where the fictional couple would end up, telling The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>, \u201cOh, [there are] definitely [hurdles]. That\u2019s I guess part of marriage, the hurdles. That\u2019s just life! But I think they\u2019ve always been endgame for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cIt\u2019s what they\u2019ve been working so hard towards, building this family and making a home with their son and looking forward. So I hope they get that peace in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grimes, 42, meanwhile, showed support for a spinoff centered around Kayce and Monica.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tKayce Dutton is getting his own Yellowstone spinoff, but all anyone can talk about is about how his wife, Monica, is missing from Marshals. Yellowstone, which premiered in 2018, introduced viewers to the fictional Dutton family, who own the largest ranch in Montana. When the show debuted, Kayce (Luke Grimes) and Monica\u2019s (Kelsey Asbille) marriage [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c[Kelsey and I] keep saying that if Yana Grebenyuk Taylor [Sheridan] calls and it\u2019s something he wants to do and it\u2019s something he wants to write, we would absolutely say yes,\u201d he noted at the time.<\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s wish came true when CBS picked up Marshals<\/em>, which follows Kayce as he leaves the ranch life behind to join an elite unit of the U.S. Marshals. According to the official show synopsis, Kayce is \u201ccombining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region\u2019s war on violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to Grimes, the show stars Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Brett Cullen<\/strong> and Logan Marshall Green<\/strong>. Kayce and Monica\u2019s son, Tate (Brecken Merrill<\/strong>), has also appeared in various trailers and promotional material for the show \u2014 but Asbille has noticeably been absent from Marshals<\/em> content.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe definitely wanted to make sure to give it a real story and make it interesting and make it believable,\u201d Grimes shared in June 2025 to People about the vision for Marshals. \u201cIf it was just like, \u2018Well, he\u2019s happy\u2019 \u2014 we\u2019re just going to watch him be happy? That\u2019s not very cool. But I\u2019ll say this, the idea that was pitched to me is very, very good and very interesting and it really roped me in and I think it will rope the audience in as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

After finding success on Paramount, creator Taylor Sheridan grew the Yellowstone world with prequels 1883 and 1923. CBS ordered Marshals, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He continued: \u201cThere\u2019s going to be some familiar faces. There\u2019s going to be a lot of new faces too, so we\u2019ll see how that all feels. To go back into it in a new set of circumstances is going to be [a] kind of transition.\u201d<\/p>\n
