Guy Fieri<\/strong> is opening up about his \u201cJustaGuy\u201d transformation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to go big, go big,\u201d Fieri, 58, told People<\/em> in an interview published on Monday, January 26.<\/p>\n

Fieri shocked fans on January 22 when he showed off a brand new look for his 58th birthday via Instagram. The transformation included shaving his goatee and ditching his famous spiky blonde hair for a sleek brunette look. He completed the look by trading in his signature casual clothing style for a blue gingham button-up, a brown belt and khakis.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey there! After so many years of celebrating my birthday as Guy, I figured this year I\u2019d celebrate it as JustaGuy. Happy birthday to me!\u201d he said in a video of himself blowing out birthday candles. In the caption, Fieri added, \u201cNew Year. New Guy. New Look.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Fieri, the video was a teaser for his upcoming Super Bowl commercial for Bosch.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said, \u2018Well, can you shave your goatee?\u2019 And I said, \u2018I would for this. This is such an important commercial. This is such a big deal,\u2019\u201d he explained to People<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Fieri continued, \u201cI sent the picture to my mom and she said, \u2018Who is that?\u2019 She said, \u2018It really looks a lot like you, but I know it\u2019s not you.\u2019 I said, \u2018Mom, that\u2019s me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

While many fans assumed that Fieri\u2019s transformation was AI-generated, a spokesperson for the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives host confirmed to the outlet that this wasn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuy\u2019s birthday post is not AI,\u201d the spokesperson said. \u201cThe video was shot with Guy Fieri himself, and the JustaGuy transformation was achieved using high-end post-production visual effects.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fieri said filming the commercial was \u201cthe craziest 24 to 36 hours of his filming career.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shot it like a movie. Nothing was spared,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt took two hours to put the wig on. When you see the picture, you\u2019re either going to want to buy a life insurance policy from me or you\u2019re going to want to go out to Bingo.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fieri said that even his wife, Lori Fieri<\/strong>, was caught off guard by the new look.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019d look at me and go, \u2018Oh \u2014 it\u2019s you. I didn\u2019t even know it was you,\u2019\u201d he shared, adding that he expects fans to be just as confused when the commercial airs during the Super Bowl on February 8.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there aren\u2019t about 10 seconds where people say, \u2018Is that really him?\u2019 then I\u2019ll be 100 percent wrong. But I won\u2019t be,\u201d Fieri concluded. \u201cBe prepared for the Super Bowl commercial. You\u2019re not ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fieri\u2019s transformation comes two months after he revealed that he was hospitalized and wheelchair-bound following a slip on the stairs while filming his new show Flavortown Food Fight<\/em>. He was taken into emergency surgery as a result of the accident.<\/p>\n
