Marcello Hernandez<\/strong>\u2019s parents are his muse.<\/p>\n

Hernandez was born and raised in Miami, Florida, by his mom, Isabel<\/strong>, and his stepdad. His mom and dad divorced soon after immigrating to America, but the Saturday Night Live<\/em> star has remained close with both of them, as well as his stepfather.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have two dads and a mom,\u201d Hernandez said during a January 2026 appearance on Dax Shepard<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast. \u201cI got lucky with a good stepdad. I think it\u2019s also a difficult position to be in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hernandez decided to pursue a career in comedy after playing soccer in his teen years. Though he said his mom and stepdad were \u201csupportive\u201d of his choice, his dad was a bit harder to convince.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMarcello Hern\u00e1ndez delivered insightful dating tips in his American Boy stand-up special on Netflix, which he\u2019s likely putting into practice. \u201cWomen are very scary and they live a violent life behind-the-scenes,\u201d Hern\u00e1ndez joked in his 2025 Netflix special, referring to ladies getting waxed. \u201cA woman getting ready to leave the house is one of the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMy dad had gone to a few tournaments and seen me play really well. And I think he had that always in his mind, like, \u2018You\u2019re really good. I\u2019ve seen you excel. I don\u2019t think you should drop this for something that you\u2019re not so good at yet.\u2019 But my mom and my stepdad were like, \u2018If you want to do this, we\u2019re in. Go for it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Where Are Marcello Hernandez\u2019s Parents From?<\/h2>\n

Marcello Hernandez\u2019s mom and stepdad are both from Cuba, while his dad is from the Dominican Republic. The comedian revealed on \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d that his mom fled Cuba when she was 12 years old and briefly moved to Spain and the Dominican Republic before settling down in America.<\/p>\n

Marcello Hernandez\u2019s parents divorced when he was young. Isabela remarried when Hernandez was around 4 or 5 years old.<\/p>\n

During his stand-up routine at Montreal Just for Laughs in 2022, Hernandez joked about why his parents\u2019 marriage ended in divorce.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t work out,\u201d he said. \u201cThey came to America with the same idea, just a little bit different. My mom got here and she was like, \u2018Oh my god, look at all of these opportunities.\u2019 And then my dad got here and was like \u2018Oh my gosh, look at all of these opportunities. This is not a place to be married, this is the land of opportunities.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
