The deadly attack took place on New Year\u2019s Eve on Wednesday, December 31, when Milford police said the girlfriend of Peyton Bilbia called in a welfare check for him because she could [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI\u2019ll never forget that call. I\u2019ll never forget that day,\u201d said Fernandez during the press conference. \u201cI just felt my heart drop, and it just didn\u2019t make sense because I made sure to say bye to him in the morning before our flight, and he was perfectly fine. He was happy.<\/p>\n \u201cBy the time we got back to the house, we came home to an empty house when we should\u2019ve come home to Milo running up to us, greeting us,\u201d she continued. \u201cIn addition to that, there was blood on the floor, by the door, that we had to clean up because he [had been] vomiting.\u201d<\/p>\n Fernandez said that Campuzano actually sent flowers \u2014 along with his condolences \u2014 to his grieving ex.<\/p>\n \u201cAt that time, I thought it was a sweet gesture, but now to know that he\u2019s the one responsible for Milo\u2019s death is a pain that I can\u2019t even describe,\u201d said Fernandez at the press conference.<\/p>\n Fernandez spoke to police about the dog\u2019s death and shared photos of leftover pellets she found in Milo\u2019s food bowl. Eventually, police would discover it was actually rodent poison.<\/p>\n A necropsy was performed on Milo, and it confirmed that he died from poisoning.<\/p>\n Investigators later obtained a copy of Campuzano\u2019s credit card bill, which reportedly showed he purchased the poison from a Tractor Supply business two days before Milo was found dead.<\/p>\n \u201cHe died a painful death and he died alone,\u201d said Fernandez at the press conference. \u201cI just hope that there\u2019s some way we can get justice for Milo because he didn\u2019t deserve this.\u201d<\/p>\n She added: \u201cThe scariest part to me with all of this is that there were no signs. [Campuzano] was well-liked, a completely sweet boyfriend to me. We hardly argued. There were no signs other than that he didn\u2019t like Milo and I just summed that up to the fact that he wasn\u2019t a dog person. He was a perfect boyfriend, that\u2019s what makes this so much scarier.\u201d<\/p>\n
