Pratt has made quite a name for himself as a leading man in Hollywood after breaking out in the sitcom Parks and Recreation and landing the lead role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe\u2019s\u00a0Guardians of the Galaxy. But even [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He added, \u201cThere\u2019s a certain level of claustrophobia that you just naturally feel when you\u2019re strapped down to something, and that was helpful, in fact.\u201d<\/p>\n Pratt also worked with the LAPD ahead of filming, including the homicide division, which he called a \u201creally incredible\u201d experience.<\/p>\n \u201cMan, these guys are heroes, and the trouble that they encounter and the trauma they see on a day-to-day basis is really, really staggering,\u201d he told People at the time.<\/p>\n Keep scrolling to see what audiences and critics are saying about Mercy:<\/p>\n The sci-fi thriller is currently sitting at a rating of 22 percent from critics and 82 percent from audiences. (For a film to be \u201cCertified Fresh,\u201d it needs to receive a score of 55 percent or higher from critics.)<\/p>\n The critics have not been kind to Mercy<\/em>, with Frank Scheck<\/strong> of The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> including a warning in his summary that says it should be \u201cavoided by anyone suffering from screen addiction. Which these days is pretty much everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n Manohla Dargis<\/strong> of the New York Times<\/em> also took issue with the film, calling it a story about a \u201cguy, much like the hapless audience member, is unhappily stuck in a chair watching a lot of onscreen nonsense.\u201d Peter Howell<\/strong> of the Toronto Star,<\/em> meanwhile, says Mercy<\/em> is \u201clazily written, chaotically directed and played out with all the zest of a convenience-store security video.\u201d<\/p>\n Dare Daniel\u2019s<\/em> Daniel Barnes<\/strong> quipped that it might not be \u201ca great idea to put an omnipresent countdown clock in the corner of the screen when the film is this tiresome,\u201d saying it provides a \u201cstark reminder of all the time you\u2019re wasting.\u201d<\/p>\n There were a few critics who found a silver lining in Mercy.<\/em> Peter Bradshaw<\/strong> of The Guardian<\/em> called it \u201cingenious and watchable stuff\u201d with \u201ccheeky twists,\u201d while Sonia Rao<\/strong> of the Washington Post<\/em> claims it\u2019s both \u201cludicrous\u201d and \u201ca hoot and a half.\u201d<\/p>\n Mercy<\/em> has been much more favorable with the general audience. One RT viewer called it a \u201cdifferent kind\u201d of thriller but still \u201creally good,\u201d while another praised the pacing and its ability to \u201ckeep you engaged.\u201d<\/p>\n A third RT user gushed over Chris Pratt\u2019s performance, saying the movie proves he\u2019s not just a \u201cone trick pony.\u201d<\/p>\n
