{"id":11239,"date":"2026-01-27T09:37:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T09:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diyhaven858.wasmer.app\/index.php\/paul-walter-hauser-raising-20k-for-james-van-der-beek-amid-cancer-battle\/"},"modified":"2026-01-27T09:37:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T09:37:14","slug":"paul-walter-hauser-raising-20k-for-james-van-der-beek-amid-cancer-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diyhaven858.wasmer.app\/index.php\/paul-walter-hauser-raising-20k-for-james-van-der-beek-amid-cancer-battle\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul Walter Hauser Raising $20K for James Van Der Beek Amid Cancer Battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>James Van Der Beek<\/strong> is getting a little (financial) help from his friends amid his stage 3 cancer battle.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Paul Walter Hauser<\/strong> announced his partnership with Cameo on Monday, January 26, with the goal of raising $20,000 dollars by March 1 to aid Van Der Beek, 48, in paying for his ongoing treatment after the <em>Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> alum began selling his personal memorabilia to help with costs.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cJames Van Der Beek started selling his old stuff from his past acting jobs to pay for his colorectal cancer treatments, and it didn\u2019t sit well with me,\u201d Hauser, 39, wrote via Instagram on Monday. \u201cI am an actor and father of 3 children, and I want them inheriting my trinkets\/wardrobe\/memorabilia someday. I wouldn\u2019t want to auction off a Stingray shirt or Marvel script to make ends meet for treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Marvel star asked his followers to \u201cspread the love\u201d by \u201cspreading the word\u201d about his mission, which will include recording personalized Cameo videos to provide direct\u00a0financial assistance for Van Der Beek.\u00a0In addition, Hauser will auction off \u201cpersonal items\u201d from celebrity friends like<strong> Josh Gad<\/strong>, <strong>Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong>, <strong>Beck Lynch<\/strong> and \u201cmany many more\u201d to continue \u201cour support of a fellow actor, father and husband who has rolled a painful pair of dice these last couple years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Hauser also got ahead of anyone who might question his motives by \u201carming\u201d himself with \u201cfacts and receipts at the ready,\u201d writing, \u201cBefore the Internet trolls wipe their saliva and attack their keyboards to question why I chose to raise money for this, and not something they deem worthy of time\/efforts\/funding, know that I\u2019ve done stand up comedy for Relay for Life\u2019s Cancer Charity Walk, I\u2019ve donated my own earnings to organizations like Smile Train and Neighborly, and recently helped raise over $100,000 for ServeLA through my appearance on <em>Celebrity Wheel of Fortune<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He concluded his announcement by saying he\u2019s \u201calways liked\u201d Van Der Beek, who \u201cseems like a really good dude. Let\u2019s help him out in this difficult moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>Us Weekly<\/em> has reached out to Van Der Beek for comment.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While the twosome have never worked together on screen, Hauser recalled \u201cberating\u201d Van Der Beek during a 2010 celebrity flag football game during a 2022 appearance on the <em>Rich Eisen Show<\/em>. Hauser remembered being in the audience and yelling, \u201cI want to see some blood out there, son!\u201d over and over at the Varsity Blues actor before getting a reply.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cAnd after the third time I shouted it, he turned around and he goes, \u2018I\u2019ll make you proud, dad.\u2019 And it became a bit. We just went back and forth, it was very funny,\u201d he said with a laugh.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Van Der Beek \u2014 who shares\u00a0 Olivia, 14, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 11, Emilia, 8, Gwendolyn, 6, and Jeremiah, 3 with wife <strong>Kimberly<\/strong> \u2014 revealed his stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis via Instagram in November 2024.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Later that month, he announced that he was selling limited editions of his famous <em>Varsity Blues<\/em> jersey for families dealing with cancer, noting that \u201c100 percent of my net proceeds will go to families recovering from the financial burden of cancer (including my own).\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The following September, the <em>Dawson\u2019s Creek<\/em> cast reunited for a live reading of the show\u2019s pilot episode to raise money for F Cancer. Van Der Beek, however, was forced to drop out last minute due to a stomach virus. <strong>Michelle Williams<\/strong>, <strong>Katie Holmes<\/strong>, <strong>Joshua Jackson<\/strong>, <strong>Mary Beth Peil<\/strong>, <strong>John Wesley Shipp<\/strong>, <strong>Mary-Margaret Humes<\/strong>, <strong>Kerr Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Meredith Monroe<\/strong> and <strong>Busy Philipp<\/strong>s were all still in attendance for the event, with <strong>Lin-Manuel Mirand<\/strong>a stepping in for Van Der Beek in the title role of Dawson Leery.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI can\u2019t believe I\u2019m not there,\u201d Van Der Beek said in a prerecorded message played on stage. \u201cI can\u2019t believe I don\u2019t get to hug my castmates, my beautiful cast, in person, and I just wanted to stand on that stage and thank every single person in this theater for being here tonight \u2014 from the cast to the crew to everybody who donated their time and has been so generous. And especially every single last one of you. You\u2019re the best fans in the world.
