John Mulaney<\/strong> is opening up about the very specific role he plays within Olivia Munn<\/strong>\u2018s extended family.<\/p>\n \u201cSo Olivia has a large \u2014 she\u2019s Vietnamese and she has a large Vietnamese family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, of which I am one of the significant financial contributors,\u201d Mulaney, 43, said during the Monday, January 26, episode of comedian Mike Birbiglia<\/strong>\u2018s \u201cWorking It Out\u201d podcast. \u201cFor the first 39 years of my life, I supported I think zero Vietnamese people. Probably none. And now I have 10 on the books, a couple take Zelle.\u201d<\/p>\n Mulaney joked that he never has to \u201cwonder\u201d whether Munn\u2019s family members want him to send them money.<\/p>\n \u201cHow refreshing, by the way, to be in a goddamn white family and never talk about money at all?\u201d he continued. \u201c[Olivia\u2019s relatives] go, \u2018How much money do you have?\u2019 I tell them, they love it. They couldn\u2019t like it more.\u201d<\/p>\n The former Saturday Night Live<\/em> writer also noted how different the experience is with his own family. \u201cYou have parents with some success, you can\u2019t really do anything for them,\u201d he said. \u201cIt brings me great joy to help out and do fun things with Olivia\u2019s family.\u201d<\/p>\n Birbiglia, 47, added that it\u2019s a \u201criot\u201d whenever Mulaney talks about his in-laws on stage during his shows.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s how regular ass of a day it is when I\u2019m with nine Vietnamese people,\u201d Mulaney said. \u201cI take them to the store \u2014 her aunts and uncles, mom \u2014 that only a couple days later, somebody says, \u2018Oh, what did you do Monday?\u2019 I say, \u2018I took six of her relatives to CVS to get child flip-flips for themselves. And then they wore them to a restaurant.\u2019 And then I\u2019ll go, \u2018Oh well, that\u2019s out of the ordinary a little from my life.’\u201d<\/p>\n Birbiglia also pointed out that Mulaney warns his audiences that he\u2019s \u201cgonna do the voice\u201d when joking about Munn\u2019s family. \u201cI\u2019ve earned it,\u201d Mulaney quipped.<\/p>\n Mulaney was previously married to ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler<\/strong> from 2014 to 2022. The former couple announced their split in 2021, shortly after Mulaney finished a rehab stint for alcoholism and drug addiction. (He voluntarily checked into a 60-day treatment program in late 2020 following a relapse.)<\/p>\n As news broke of Mulaney\u2019s split from Tendler, 40, Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed his relationship with Munn, 45, who later revealed that she and Mulaney were expecting their first baby. Son Malcolm was born in November 2021.<\/p>\n Mulaney and Munn tied the knot in summer 2024. Later that year, the couple welcomed their second baby, daughter M\u00e9i, via surrogate.<\/p>\n During a 2024 interview with GQ<\/em>, Munn admitted that she \u201cbarely knew\u201d Mulaney before she got pregnant with Malcolm, but she remembered him being excited about becoming a dad.<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t necessarily, \u2018We\u2019re going to be married and live together\u2019 or any of that, but it was, \u2018I will be involved in some way,’\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n![\"John](\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/John-Mulaney-Financially-Supports-Olivia-Munn-Family-2202927464.jpg?w=1000&quality=70&strip=all\")
