Sugar<\/em> is coming back to puzzle through a new mystery this summer\u2014and with it the reminder of why Sugar<\/em>, an Apple TV series starring Colin Farrell as a neo-noir gumshoe type, is being covered on a website that focuses on sci-fi and fantasy. Season one\u2019s sixth episode, \u201cGo Home,\u201d let viewers in on a big secret: Farrell\u2019s character, the very human-looking John Sugar, is actually\u2026 an alien in disguise.<\/p>\n

With that reveal out of the way, Sugar <\/em>also let viewers know that certain other characters were also extraterrestrials\u2014including one who got mixed up in some very bad business, most certainly knows valuable details about Sugar\u2019s missing sister, and was in the wind at the end of the season. So instead of taking \u201cthe last ride home,\u201d as he\u2019d originally intended, Sugar decided there\u2019s enough on Earth to make him stick around.<\/p>\n

That twist was good news for fans, because it meant a clear path forward for season two. An Apple TV press release teases, \u201cJohn Sugar returns for a new case, tracking the troubled older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer as his search for his beloved missing sister continues. As the investigation expands into a city-wide conspiracy with sinister intentions, Sugar must reckon with himself to answer the question\u2014how far will he go to do what\u2019s right?\u201d<\/p>\n

The audience may be fully up to speed on Sugar\u2019s unusual origins, but most of the world is still in the dark about, you know, an alien who also happens to be multilingual and a huge film buff poking into mysteries in Los Angeles. A fresh set of supporting characters comes aboard with the new case, including Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, Sasha Calle, and Shea Whigham.<\/p>\n

Apple TV also shared some first-look photos, showing Sugar and some of those new faces.<\/p>\n

Sugar<\/em> season two will run for eight episodes, kicking off June 19 with a weekly drop thereafter.<\/p>\n
