The Handmaid\u2019s Tale <\/i>star Samira Wiley<\/strong> and her wife, Lauren Morelli<\/strong>, have separated after nine years of marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter nine years together, we have decided to end our marriage,\u201d Wiley, 38, and Morelli, 43, wrote in a joint statement shared with Out <\/i>magazine on Thursday, January 29. \u201cHowever, our lifelong commitment to coparenting will forever remain.\u201d<\/p>\n

A rep for the now-exes, who share 4-year-old daughter George, added that they are \u201camicably filing for divorce\u201d on Friday, January 30. Wiley and Morelli have not further addressed their breakup. Us Weekly<\/i> has reached out for comment.<\/p>\n

The pair initially met in 2012 on the set of Orange is the New Black, <\/i>in which Wiley starred as Poussey Washington and Morelli served as one of the series\u2019 writers.<\/p>\n

One day later, The Real Housewives of New York City alum Kelly Bensimon announced on her iHeartRadio \u201cI Do Part 2\u201d podcast that she\u2019d recently split from her boyfriend. \u201cI had started questioning my sexuality as a result of being in the writers\u2019 room and talking about all the themes on the show. I was still very confused, but I knew the attraction between us felt magnetic,\u201d Morelli told Out <\/i>in 2016. <\/i>\u201cWe spent a couple of weeks together before Christmas on that first episode, and then I came back to New York in February. On set, it\u2019s a bunch of women, so everyone\u2019s hugging and touching. It\u2019s a very affectionate place.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI\u2019d fallen into this alternate universe, but I thought I\u2019d go home and it\u2019d disappear. But Samira was still so present for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morelli divorced then-husband Steve Basilone<\/strong> in 2014 before she publicly came out as queer and started dating Wiley.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember walking down the street in New York and finally being able to hold her hand, and how huge that felt,\u201d Morelli recalled to the outlet. \u201cWalking to the date was more romantic and mattered more than wherever we were going or whatever we were about to do. \u2026 It had been such a journey to discover my sexuality, and to claim it in this public way was incredible for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the first shocking splits that took the world by storm in 2023 was Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix. Us Weekly confirmed in March that the Vanderpump Rules stars broke up after nearly a decade of [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wiley and Morelli announced in 2016 that they were engaged, tying the knot the following year. After Morelli and Wiley exchanged vows, they started discussing their future plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s always talk about our future, and we\u2019ll just have to see where our life leads us,\u201d Wiley exclusively told Us <\/i>in June 2019. \u201cWe don\u2019t get to spend that much time together, we\u2019re always traveling, so it\u2019s really special when we are together to be able to take the time and look in each other\u2019s eyes. We just sit down and talk and maybe watch a documentary or something like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two years later, Morelli and Wiley secretly welcomed daughter George Elizabeth in April 2021.<\/p>\n
