St Vincent\u2019s Hospital Fairview has announced the commencement of a project to provide a new purpose- designed state-of-the-art mental health facility on its grounds at Richmond Road in north Dublin.<\/p>\n
The psychiatric hospital currently has an in-patient capacity of 46 in-patients, and occupies a number of buildings, some dating back before the establishment of the facility in 1857.<\/p>\n
The new hospital will be due for completion towards the end of 2027 and will replace the existing buildings. The new facility has been designed to include 51 ensuite bedrooms divided between adult and adolescent in-patients, together with associated daycare and educational facilities.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the hospital said a key feature of the new development will be its flexibility, which will enable the site to accommodate the anticipated increased and varied demand for mental health services in future years.<\/p>\n
It will also include external landscaped space providing patients with a private and secure therapeutic and recreational environment.<\/p>\n
In addition to the new facility, four other on-site buildings; Richmond House, Brooklawn, Rose Cottage and the old laundry building, will be restored for use by St Vincent\u2019s, while the main hospital building will be retained and repurposed to accommodate community facilities for the new residential development.<\/p>\n
The new facility is being fully funded by St Vincent\u2019s Hospital from the proceeds of the sale of part of its existing lands on the existing site.\u00a0 These lands have been purchased by the Land Development Agency, which plans to deliver almost 800 new homes, alongside retail outlets and amenities.<\/p>\n
Construction of the new facility is being managed and delivered by Fairview Hospital Development Company, a partnership of Walls Construction and the Royalton Group, with whom the hospital has been working since 2021 following a competitive tender process.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
