\n\tAs a cast member since 2003, Saturday Night Live <\/em>mainstay Kenan Thompson has logged over two decades at the late-night juggernaut, making him the longest-tenured performer \u2014 as well as prone to speculation about his eventual exit.<\/p>\n \n\tIn a new interview with People, <\/em>the vet said he occasionally contemplates his possible departure: \u201cI definitely do. It\u2019s gonna suck. There\u2019s just so many layers to it. It\u2019s not just the onscreen that you see in that one camera shot. It\u2019s so many people behind the scenes and years and years and years with each one of those people. So it\u2019s gonna be a lot.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tHe added jokingly, \u201cI might have to just rip the Band-Aid and run out the back door and not say nothing to nobody and just write letters.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe Emmy-winning comic said it\u2019s \u201cusually always sad\u201d when cast members leave the show, such as when former co-star Bowen Yang exited midseason last year after initially joining SNL <\/em>as a staff writer in 2018. Thompson explained he\u2019s \u201cdreading the moment [of his departure]. I might collapse in the moment because it\u2019s been so many years and so many relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe concluded, \u201cThat\u2019s gonna be a drastic change at this point that I never thought, you know,\u00a0SNL<\/em>\u00a0would be such a large component in my life. I never thought I\u2019d even get the job in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tLast April, Thompson told Entertainment Weekly <\/em>in jest, \u201cIt would be cool if I never left the show. That\u2019d be crazy.\u201d He also said he doesn\u2019t know if he or creator Lorne Michaels would exit first, noting, \u201cI feel like we\u2019ll both just ride until the wheels fall off.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThough Thompson is unsure when he\u2019ll be ready to leave, he is set to return to his comedic roots by reteaming with Kel Mitchell, his\u00a0Good Burger\u00a0<\/em>films and\u00a0Kenan & Kel<\/em> co-star. The duo will serve as producers and star in\u00a0Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein<\/em>, a horror comedy co-produced by Thompson\u2019s\u00a0Artists for Artists\u00a0and\u00a0Range Media Partners, which will shoot this summer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
