Multiple outlets, including People and TMZ, reported on Monday, January 5, that Nick was taken off suicide watch after being arrested for the murder of his parents, Rob and Michele Singer Reiner. He now no longer has [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Nick had previously been candid about his mental health and addiction struggles.<\/p>\n \u201cThey refused to give me meds because they were like, \u2018You don\u2019t need any meds,\u2019\u201d Nick recalled of a previous rehab stay during a 2015 appearance on the \u201cDopey\u201d podcast. \u201cI was freaking out. I was like, \u2018How do I show these motherf***ers that I\u2019m crazy?\u2019 So, I was like, \u2018I\u2019ll throw a rock through a window.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cI took a rock, and I started on the path, and I was going up this hill \u2026 and I went, and I threw the rock through the window. Some woman saw me and she ratted on me and then they put me on [an antidepressant called] Wellbutrin.\u201d<\/p>\n Nick was arrested in December 2025 after parents Rob and Michele were found dead inside their Los Angeles home. They were 78 and 70, respectively.<\/p>\n While Nick is being held in police custody, he has yet to enter a plea. His arraignment hearing was postponed earlier this month after defense attorney Alan Jackson<\/strong> abruptly withdrew from the case.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m legally and ethically prohibited from explaining all the reasons why, I know that\u2019s a question on everyone\u2019s mind,\u201d Jackson told reporters earlier this month after stepping down.<\/p>\n Jackson further stressed that he remained \u201cdeeply committed\u201d to supporting Nick\u2019s \u201cbest interests.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn fact, we know \u2014 we\u2019re not just convinced \u2014 we know that the legal process will reveal the true facts of the circumstances surrounding Nick\u2019s case,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cWhat we\u2019ve learned, and you can take this to the bank, is that, pursuant to the law in California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder.\u201d<\/p>\n Nick is now represented by L.A. public defender Kimberly Greene<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cI spoke to Mr. Reiner briefly this morning,\u201d Greene told reporters on January 7. \u201cHe was understanding that there was going to be a change in counsel. (Rob was also the adoptive father of his late ex-wife Penny Marshall<\/strong>\u2019s daughter, Tracy.)<\/p>\n \u201cWords cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,\u201d Jake and Romy said in a joint statement last month. \u201cThe horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren\u2019t just our parents; they were our best friends. We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life.\u201d<\/p>\n Nick is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, February 23.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
