UPDATE 1\/15\/26 at 6:03 p.m. ET \u2014 <\/b>Influencer Chiara Ferragni<\/strong> has spoken out after a judge cleared her aggravated fraud.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday I am not celebrating a victory. Today I am closing a chapter,\u201d Ferragni wrote in a Thursday, January 15, statement shared via Instagram<\/span>. \u201cI was at the peak of my image and my career. There was neither an economic nor a common-sense reason for me to deceive anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI\u2019m not speaking out of anger. I\u2019m speaking with full awareness. With the clarity of someone who knows she faced everything without running away, without hiding, respecting both justice and silence even when it was the hardest thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Italian fashion influencer Chiara Ferragni<\/strong> could spend up to five years behind bars if convicted for aggravated fraud.<\/p>\n

Ferragni, 38, was indicted in Italy in January for allegedly misleading a handful of charity campaigns. In the charges, the social media personality was accused of falsely suggesting that the proceeds of her sponsored Christmas Pandoro cake would benefit a local children\u2019s hospital. She subsequently denied the accusations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe remain firmly convinced that this matter has no criminal relevance and that every controversial element has already been addressed and resolved before the AGCM,\u201d her lawyers Giuseppe Iannaccone<\/strong> and Marcello Bana<\/strong> told Reuters in a statement shared at the time.<\/p>\n

Reuters further reported that Ferragni was fined nearly $1.1 million by the country\u2019s Competition Authority (AGCM), which she agreed to pay.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe realized that some internal analysis processes could have been handled better. We\u2019re working to improve some organizational aspects,\u201d Ferragni told Italy\u2019s Corriere Milano<\/i> newspaper in a 2024 interview after the initial claims made headlines that same year. \u201cI\u2019ve always thought that if you have 30 million followers, if you do charity work and talk about it, you create an emulation effect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferragni further revealed that she and her husband, Federico Leonardo Lucia<\/strong> (better known as rapper Fedez), previously donated 50,000 euros to local hospitals in 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy communicating it, crowdfunding produced the best results in Europe, raising 4.5 million euros, which we were able to donate to an intensive care unit in a month and a half,\u201d Ferragni recalled. \u201cFollowing our example, others have set up similar operations in support of other hospitals. My rationale was that, within commercial operations between my companies and a partner, it was simply a good idea to try and add a small charitable component to [a] contract.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferragni, who shares two children with 36-year-old Fedez, stressed that every cake label read, \u201cChiara Ferragni and Balocco support the hospital\u201d instead of directly revealing how the proceeds would be donated.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne should not confuse the individual, Chiara Ferragni, with the brand and the companies. Furthermore, without the [company], there would have been no donation,\u201d she said. \u201cTo me, the important thing was to make the donation.\u201d<\/p>\n
