Alan Jackson<\/strong> is back in the courtroom one week after withdrawing from Nick Reiner<\/strong>\u2019s legal counsel.<\/p>\n

Jackson, 61, and client Fraser Bohm<\/strong> appeared at the Van Nuys Courthouse in California on Wednesday, January 14. Bohm, 25, was charged with four counts each of murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence for his involvement in a car crash that killed Pepperdine University students Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir and Deslyn Williams on October 17, 2023. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors say Bohm was allegedly doing over 100 mph on the Pacific Coast Highway when he lost control of his vehicle, hitting three parked cars, which then struck the four women who were walking nearby. In November 2025, Judge Thomas Rubinson<\/strong> denied a motion to dismiss the murder charges. Two months prior, the judge denied a motion to reduce Bohm\u2019s bail from $4 million to $2 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many, many defendants sitting in the county jail right now who would love me to reduce their bail so they can hire Alan Jackson or other private counsel,\u201d Rubinson said at the time, per Pepperdine University Graphic. \u201cThat\u2019s not the way it works.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNick Reiner\u2019s former lawyer, Alan Jackson, dodged questions about the murder suspect\u2019s finances while entering the courthouse for what was supposed to be his arraignment. \u201cAlan, who\u2019s paying for Nick\u2019s defense?\u201d one reporter could be heard asking Jackson as he got out of his vehicle at the Los Angeles Superior Court and walked toward the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

During Wednesday\u2019s court appearance, Jackson conversed with Bohm and at one point, patted him on the back, per The New York Post<\/em>. According to the outlet, Bohm replied, \u201cYes your honor,\u201d when the judge asked if he agreed with waving his right to a speedy trial. The next court date for Bohm was scheduled for February 10.<\/p>\n

Outside of the courthouse, Jackson told The Post<\/em> that Bohm \u201cis doing great, the whole team is doing great.\u201d Days earlier, Jackson announced his withdrawal from Nick\u2019s murder case involving his parents, Rob<\/strong> and Michele Reiner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, this morning, I had to withdraw as Nick Reiner\u2019s counsel,\u201d Jackson told reporters outside of the courthouse after the January 7 hearing. \u201cCircumstances beyond our control, but more importantly, circumstances beyond Nick\u2019s control, have dictated that, sadly, it\u2019s made it impossible for us to continue our representation of Nick.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m legally and I\u2019m ethically prohibited from explaining all the reasons why, I know that\u2019s a question on everyone\u2019s mind,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe expect the public defender to step in, they\u2019ve already been appointed and very carefully protect Nick Reiner\u2019s interests as he moves forward through the system.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson ended the press conference with a statement: \u201cWhat we\u2019ve learned, and you can take this to the bank, is that, pursuant to the law in California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood, California, home on December 14, 2025, with apparent stab wounds. They were 78 and 70, respectively. Police arrested Nick near the University of Southern California hours after his parents\u2019 bodies were found. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is facing the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted.<\/p>\n
