Heather Gay<\/strong> doesn\u2019t shy away from conflict or the truth on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City<\/em> \u2014 and when it comes to her own life and weight loss journey, she is just as open.<\/p>\n

After rising to fame as one of the original Housewives on the Utah-based Bravo series in 2020, Gay revealed in November 2023 that she was using Ozempic to help with weight loss.<\/p>\n

While she claimed at the time she hadn\u2019t seen \u201cmassive results,\u201d Gay revealed in November 2024 that she had lost 25 pounds with the assistance of GLP-1s.<\/p>\n

Gay gained more confidence \u2014 and has been able to expand her wardrobe \u2014 amid her weight loss, but it also came with some backlash. Some RHOSLC<\/em> fans questioned whether Gay had become \u201cmeaner\u201d after her slimdown, which she refuted in Us Weekly<\/em>\u2019s Reality Stars of the Year<\/em> issue published in October 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m as outspoken now as I was when I was 30 pounds heavier, and somehow it reads harsher, I think, when the package isn\u2019t as unthreatening,\u201d she quipped.<\/p>\n

In January 2026, Gay exclusively told Us<\/em>, \u201cI feel healthy every day. I feel like I am taking care of my body. And for my whole life, I\u2019ve just been trying to, like, work around my body.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jumping on the Ozempic Bandwagon<\/h2>\n

\u201c[I\u2019m] on the Ozempic train,\u201d Heather Gay told People<\/em> in November 2023. \u201cI\u2019ve been on it for a long time, but hadn\u2019t really seen much results. And I haven\u2019t had massive results, but enough for people to notice, which is great.\u201d<\/p>\n

She noted that even after seeing a small drop in her weight, she noticed a shift in how people saw her. \u201cYou lose five pounds, people are nicer to you,\u201d Gay claimed, adding that it\u2019s a \u201cdiscouraging\u201d thought.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just the way the world works and that makes me sad for women. But happy that I\u2019m down five,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Still a Self-Love Queen<\/h2>\n

During a February 2024 sitdown with ABC News\u2019 Deborah Roberts<\/strong>, the journalist told Heather Gay that after representing \u201cbody positivity,\u201d some women were saying her use of GLP-1s are \u201ckind of a copout.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gay revealed on the docuseries IMPACT x Nightline: The Skinny Confessions: After Ozempic<\/em> hosted by Roberts that she had heard people claiming she has \u201csold out\u201d and is no longer \u201crelatable\u201d because she used medication to assist in her slimdown.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s disappointing [and] sad to know that body positivity was all a big lie,\u201d Gay confessed. \u201cBecause it\u2019s better to not be overweight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gay explained she tried to block out the haters and focus on her own journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m old enough to know that I have wasted a lot of years blaming myself and feeling guilty and shame over my lack of ability to be thinner,\u201d she shared. \u201cAnd if I had just known there was a medicine that would make me thinner with little to no effort I would have taken it 30 years ago and probably had a different life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Denying \u2018Mean Girl\u2019 Claims<\/h2>\n

During the RHOSLC<\/em> season 5 reunion, which aired in January 2025, a fan insinuated that Heather Gay\u2019s \u201cedge\u201d came from her recent weight loss. \u201cCan you see how you were giving mean girl energy this season?\u201d the fan asked, which took Gay by surprise.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, that\u2019s just an interesting read,\u201d Gay responded. \u201cI guess when I was heavier, I was more of an underdog. So it was OK when I stuck up for myself. Season 1 Heather had a lot more confidence than this girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cThis show strips you of your ego. It strips you of your confidence. When I was heavier, I had to fight a lot harder battles and I was a lot meaner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mary Cosby<\/strong> chimed in defending her costar, saying, \u201cI just feel like Heather is different. She likes herself more. She\u2019s pouring more love into herself. I feel like when I first met Heather five years ago, she was very dark, she was not happy. She was trying to climb out of a really deep place that she had been left in from whoever ridiculed her, whoever tore her down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gay agreed that losing weight did shift her confidence. \u201cYou have to have a lot more confidence to show up when no clothes fit. Skinny, But Not Bitchy<\/h2>\n

Heather Gay faced backlash after losing weight, with some fans of RHOSLC<\/em> claiming she was meaner now that she wasn\u2019t as heavy. Gay, however, exclusively told Us<\/em> in the October 2025 Reality Stars of the Year<\/em> issue that wasn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny time a pretty girl stands up for herself, she\u2019s a bitch. And when you are heavier and you lead with comedy and you lead with self-deprecation, you\u2019re a lot less threatening,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Gay noted, \u201cI do have a lot more boundaries now than I had then, and I also have been freaking burned by women on this show and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

No Shame in Her Cosmetic Surgery Game<\/h2>\n

\u201cThe pursuit of perfection is never fully possible, just like it\u2019s not possible to be fully hair-free,\u201d Heather Gay told Bustle<\/em> in November 2025. \u201cCounting all of the things I\u2019ve had done, I\u2019m probably $200,000 into my physical appearance \u2014 and it was worth every penny.\u201d<\/p>\n

The TV personality revealed that \u201conce she had the money and the time\u201d she started to get procedures done that helped her feel better about her appearance.<\/p>\n

Heather Gay told Bustle<\/em> in November 2025 that she had a \u201cglow-up\u201d before filming season 4 of RHOSLC<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t realize the currency of beauty, or how I was perceived. I think that I was more self-deprecating and less threatening beforehand,\u201d she recalled. \u201cMy jokes didn\u2019t seem as harsh. My reads didn\u2019t seem as mean. I just didn\u2019t see the difference \u2014 because I had never looked like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

GLP-1s Aren\u2019t Going Anywhere<\/h2>\n

Heather Gay exclusively told Us<\/em> in January 2026 that she had no plans to cut out the use of GLP-1s while using Atkins products to maintain her weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s part of my daily routine as much as I have, you know, nutritional choices to support it,\u201d the reality star said of the weight-loss drug. \u201cThis is working for me, and I\u2019m just grateful to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gay explained that along with GLP-1\u2019s she was eating Atkins shakes and bars to get the right amount of protein on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been an amazing partnership for me. I have Atkins red nails, which is kind of indicative of how much I\u2019ve absorbed it into my life,\u201d she joked. \u201cThis is a new chapter for me, like being comfortable in my body and maintaining my weight and kind of having so much attention on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

She revealed, \u201cI wasn\u2019t going to, like, become a naturalist. I am who I am, and I really needed snacks and foods that would help me maintain this new lifestyle [and] fit with what I want to eat and what I enjoy doing. And keep things authentic to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
