{"id":2189,"date":"2026-01-16T11:45:16","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T11:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diyhaven858.wasmer.app\/index.php\/dolly-parton-marks-80th-birthday-with-song-featuring-miley-cyrus-more\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T11:45:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T11:45:16","slug":"dolly-parton-marks-80th-birthday-with-song-featuring-miley-cyrus-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diyhaven858.wasmer.app\/index.php\/dolly-parton-marks-80th-birthday-with-song-featuring-miley-cyrus-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Dolly Parton Marks 80th Birthday With Song Featuring Miley Cyrus, More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Dolly Parton<\/strong> is kicking off her 80th birthday celebration early.<\/p>\n<p>The country icon, 79, released a new version of her classic song \u201cLight of a Clear Blue Morning\u201d on Friday, January 16, featuring guest vocals from <strong>Reba McEntire<\/strong>, <strong>Queen Latifah<\/strong>, <strong>Lainey Wilson<\/strong> and her goddaughter <strong>Miley Cyrus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI first wrote this song back in 1976 when I needed a little hope,\u201d Parton said in an Instagram video on Thursday, January 15. \u201cThis time around, I\u2019ve invited some very special women, some real shining lights, to help me bring that hope to life again, and I can\u2019t wait for you to hear what we\u2019ve created together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Grammy winner previously revealed that proceeds from the new song will benefit pediatric cancer research at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children\u2019s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo excited for y\u2019all to hear this \ud83e\udd29,\u201d Wilson, 33, teased in an Instagram comment on Tuesday, January 13.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLight of a Clear Morning\u201d originally appeared on Parton\u2019s 1977 album <em>New Harvest \u2026 First Gathering<\/em>. Before appearing on the new version, Cyrus, 33, put her own spin on the song for a 2021 episode of <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> that aired the same weekend as Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHappy Mother\u2019s Day to my godmother Dolly Parton and my mom, <strong>Tish<\/strong>,\u201d Cyrus said after finishing her performance.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dolly Parton - Light of a Clear Blue Morning ft. Lainey Wilson, Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah &amp; Reba\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/McaD2PG8jOE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Parton described \u201cLight of a Clear Blue Morning\u201d as her \u201csong of deliverance\u201d after the demise of her professional relationship with the late <strong>Porter Wagoner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt like I was trapped in a situation and needed to be free, because God was calling me, life was calling me, to something bigger,\u201d Parton wrote in her 2020 book, <em>Songteller: My Life in Lyrics<\/em>. \u201cWhen I finally said, \u2018I have to go,\u2019 I remember walking out the door of Porter\u2019s office that day. As I was driving back to my home with [my husband] Carl in Brentwood, I was thinking, \u2018It\u2019s been a long, dark night.\u2019 I was almost to Brentwood, and all of a sudden the clouds started parting and the sun was coming out. By the time I got home, I pretty much had the song done, in my head.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parton will turn 80 on Monday, January 19. The Grand Ole Opry is marking her milestone birthday with a star-studded celebration on Saturday, January 17, featuring Wilson, <strong>Vince Gill<\/strong> and <strong>Rhonda Vincent<\/strong>, but Parton herself will not be in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, hey there, Grand Ole Opry family. One of the country icon\u2019s most famous songs, \u201cJolene,\u201d was inspired by an incident where a bank teller developed feelings for Dean, who wed Parton [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cBack when my husband, Carl, was very sick, that was for a long time, and then when he passed I didn\u2019t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of,\u201d she explained in an October 2025 video. \u201cSo, anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said we need to take care of this, we need to take care of that. Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home and closer to Vanderbilt [University Medical Center] where I\u2019m kind of having a few treatments here and there. But I wanted you to know that I\u2019m not dying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parton\u2019s husband of nearly 60 years, <strong>Carl Dean<\/strong>, died in March 2025 at age 82. Two months later, she admitted that learning how to live without him had been \u201ca big adjustment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll do fine, and I\u2019m very involved in my work and that\u2019s been the best thing that could happen to me,\u201d she said during a May 2025 appearance on the <em>Today<\/em> show. \u201cBut I\u2019ll always miss him, of course, and always love him.
