Teddi Mellencamp<\/strong> will always appreciate her dad, John Mellencamp<\/strong>, despite their well-documented ups and downs.<\/p>\n

John welcomed daughters Teddi and Justice with ex-wife Victoria Granucci<\/strong> in 1981 and 1985, respectively. The singer also shares daughter Michelle with ex Priscilla Esterline<\/strong>, and sons Hud and Speck with ex-wife Elaine Irwin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In May 2024, Teddi shared that her relationship with her dad was strained growing up, but is now in a much better place.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he always tried his best,\u201d she said of her father\u2019s parenting on an episode of the \u201cSibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson\u201d podcast. \u201cDo I think that we\u2019re in a way better place now than when I was a kid? Yes, but also because I mean, I didn\u2019t really understand the importance of a good relationship with my parents when I was a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n

John has continued to support Teddi throughout her life, including her battle with cancer. Teddi shared in February 2025 that she had stage 4 melanoma that had metastasized to her lungs and brain.<\/p>\n

\u201cDad. Thank you for saying yes you believe in me and know I can do it,\u201d Teddi wrote via Instagram Story in March 2025. \u201cCried with happiness that I have your support.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Teddi Mellencamp announced she was leaving Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/em>, John Mellencamp said in November 2020 that he was \u201cterribly excited and happy\u201d that she was exiting the show. John noted that he \u201ctried to be supportive\u201d and watch the show \u2014 but doesn\u2019t \u201cwatch it anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that it\u2019s great and I think that some of the women on the show are fantastic,\u201d he told Teddi on an episode of her \u201cTeddi Tea Pod.\u201d \u201cBut I don\u2019t like people to know where I\u2019m at, I don\u2019t like people to know what I\u2019m doing, I like to have privacy. That\u2019s why I stick around my properties and don\u2019t go anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

In October 2021, Teddi Mellencamp interviewed her dad for Extra<\/em> for his 70th birthday. During the episode, he couldn\u2019t help but gush about how proud he was to have Teddi interview him.<\/p>\n

John Mellencamp took to social media to congratulate Teddi Mellencamp on her Celebrity Big Brother<\/em> appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cA television show that Teddi is on premieres tonight,\u201d he wrote via Instagram in February 2022, alongside a photo of himself with Teddi and her daughters Slate and Dove, whom she shares with ex Edwin Arroyave<\/strong>. (They also share son Cruz.) \u201cI don\u2019t know what she\u2019s doing, but I\u2019m proud of her and hope she achieves her goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

In May 2024, Teddi Mellencamp shared on an episode of the \u201cSibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson\u201d that her and John Mellencamp had a strained relationship growing up after her parents\u2019 divorce. Instead of \u201cflying to Indiana\u201d to visit her father every other weekend, Teddi would choose to stay home and hang out with friends.<\/p>\n

In April 2025, Teddi Mellencamp said that her dad tried to call her 11 times in a row and when she finally answered, he had a question for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinally, I answer, I\u2019m like, \u2018I\u2019m in the bath. Let me live a little,\u2019\u201d Teddi recalled on her iHeartRadio \u201cDiamonds in the Rough\u201d podcast. \u201cHe goes, \u2018I just want to make sure you\u2019re going to be in our group family mausoleum.\u201d<\/p>\n

Teddi said she replied that she has kids and didn\u2019t know where they would go in the mausoleum.<\/p>\n
