Funky Postmodern<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n Blobs, blocky colors, and ornamental filigree\u2014quirky decorative design has been in style for the past decade, and the trend toward playroom-chic doesn\u2019t seem to be waning. Maybe it\u2019s our collective Peter Pan syndrome, maybe people just want a little fun during not-so-fun times. That\u2019ll be for the design scholars of the future to figure out. (You can\u2019t spell coupe without cope!) For now, brandishing squiggly, Technicolor stemware is simply how you say, \u201cI read Architectural Digest, and<\/em> I like to have fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Unique Handblown<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n I have a set of handblown wine glasses that an old roommate would call my \u201cgoblin cups.\u201d As he put it, their stubby blobular look like the sort of drinking vessel you\u2019d find at some mythical tavern. I, however, find them beautiful. While expert glassblowers can produce work with precision, many will just as well cultivate a slightly imperfect look. Call it wabi-sabi if you want, but there\u2019s an undeniable charm to the organic, almost naturalistic look of this style of glassware.<\/p>\n
