Protein cereal. Protein snacks. Protein everything.<\/p>\n<p>And while I am <em>very<\/em> pro-protein (hello, Greek yogurt and cottage cheese forever!), in the public eye, fiber got a little ignored.<\/p>\n<p>Then I started noticing something. Even though I was loading up on protein, I was having afternoon energy crashes. Digestion that felt <em>off<\/em>. I felt like I was doing everything right nutritionally, but then I realized that as the protein went up, the fiber in my meals went down.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think I\u2019m alone here because fiber is having a very deserved comeback lately. Let\u2019s dig in!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-default\" id=\"h-what-fiber-actually-does\"><strong>What Fiber Actually Does<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Fiber is a type of carbohydrate your body doesn\u2019t digest. So instead of being broken down for energy like everything else you eat, it moves through your system and helps with:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Digestive regularity<\/li>\n<li>Blood sugar stability<\/li>\n<li>Satiety (feeling full longer)<\/li>\n<li>Heart health<\/li>\n<li>Feeding beneficial gut bacteria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most adults should aim for about 25 to 30 grams per day, but many of us fall short. And it\u2019s especially easy to do that with all the protein focus lately.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-fiber-is-trending-again\">Why Fiber Is Trending Again<\/h2>\n<p>So why is fiber in the spotlight again? I think there are a few reasons:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>People Are Hungrier<\/strong>. Fiber slows digestion and helps meals \u201cstick.\u201d Without it, hunger can creep back quickly, even when you\u2019re eating a protein-packed diet.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Energy Dips Are More Noticeable<\/strong>. Fiber can help moderate blood sugar spikes and crashes. Less fiber can mean more ups and downs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gut Health Is Top of Mind<\/strong>. As more people learn about the microbiome, they\u2019re connecting the dots: fiber feeds the good bacteria to keep your gut health in balance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Fibermaxxing Trend<\/strong>.
