Wayne Brady<\/strong> is proud of who he is.<\/p>\n

The Let\u2019s Make a Deal<\/em> game show host came out as pansexual in August 2023, and has since opened up about being able to finally live his life authentically.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t give a f\u2013k anymore,\u201d Brady exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> at the Advocate + Out Pride<\/em> cover launch party in June 2024. \u201cI no longer walk around with shame or fear of blackmail \u2014 and that\u2019s the biggest thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

After initially not knowing about pansexuality, Brady began looking into what it meant to be attracted to all genders.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to do research and find out what it was that I (am),\u201d he told People<\/em> on the red carpet at the 2024 GLAAD Awards, where he served as host of the awards show. \u201cThe biggest misconception \u2014 and I even make a joke about it onstage tonight \u2014 is that people think that you\u2019re an indecisive bisexual. No, no. Let me set you straight.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cWhat the definition basically boils down to is, regardless of gender, regardless. So that means that I am happily free to fall in love with anybody here. If you\u2019re gay, if you\u2019re straight, if you\u2019re non-binary, trans, I don\u2019t care. It\u2019s the person, which in my mind is the ultimate in acceptance and loving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brady first came out to his ex-wife, Mandie Taketa<\/strong>, and their daughter, Maile Brady<\/strong>, and was met with unwavering support.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just said, \u2018Great.\u2019 As I knew coming out would help him be happier,\u201d Taketa said while recalling their initial conversation about her ex\u2019s sexuality. Brady\u2019s daughter\u2019s response was similar.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just said, \u2018Okay,’\u201d she told People<\/em> at the time, breaking into a grin.<\/p>\n

Why Coming Out Made Him a Better Dad<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In an interview with People<\/em> published on January 17, 2026, the TV host shared how his decision to come out as pansexual impacted him as a parent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel lighter, because I\u2019m me,\u201d Brady told the outlet. \u201cThat lets me be a better actor. Lets me be a better performer onstage. Lets me be a better dad. Lets me be a better partner to someone someday. I\u2019m happier, I\u2019m brighter.\u201d<\/p>\n

His Path to Self-Discovery<\/h2>\n

Brady shared in August 2023 that the death of beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams<\/strong> \u201creally impacted\u201d him and sent him on his journey to figuring out who he was. (Williams died by suicide in 2014. He was 63 years old.)<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter Robin\u2019s death, I got involved in certain groups, like Glenn Close<\/strong>\u2018s group, Bring Change to Mind, being very vocal about mental health,\u201d he told People<\/em>. \u201cOnce I opened that door to myself though, I had to start learning about myself, and I had to start owning up to things that maybe I\u2019d either repressed, suppressed, or just didn\u2019t wanna deal with.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained, \u201cI gave joy at work. But the pity is then I come home, and I don\u2019t have that joy. I have joy because I love my daughter and I love my family. I love being a dad more than chocolate ice cream. But that can\u2019t be my only joy. I have to love myself. And that\u2019s when I realized that I had a problem because if I can spend everything on stage and on camera but then I come home and there is a love deficit, what is going on?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs LGBTQ+ representation in media becomes more common, some celebrities have pushed back against the expectation that they have to define their sexuality. \u201cI don\u2019t feel like it\u2019s something I\u2019ve ever felt like I have to explain about myself,\u201d Harry Styles said of his sexuality in a 2017 interview with The Sun. \u201cIt\u2019s weird for [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a part of my journey,\u201d he shared. \u201cI had to start examining why I was looking for myself and happiness in a slew of people. If I marry this person, then everything will be fine. If I date this person, everything will be fine. I\u2019ll be good. I\u2019ll be fixed. That is obviously a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brady added, \u201cAnd so, in doing that work, I now know absolutely that love addiction is borne of trauma. I can\u2019t feel any shame around that, just like I wouldn\u2019t shame somebody if they said they were addicted to meth or cocaine. That\u2019s a sickness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brady also reflected on his coming out journey in an Instagram post in August 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people I admire the most are the ones brave enough to be themselves unapologetically,\u201d he wrote in part. \u201cThis shouldn\u2019t shake anyone\u2019s world, but if it bothers you at all, that\u2019s your business: I was so afraid of having my manhood questioned, but screw that. A \u2018real man\u2019 in my eyes, isn\u2019t afraid to be honest and happy. From now on, I\u2019ll be over here living my best life!\u201d<\/p>\n

Facing Fears<\/h2>\n

Brady exclusively told Us<\/em> in June 2024 that he feared coming out as pansexual would upend his professional life.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know how I would get past the hurdle of care,\u201d he said. \u201cI was like, \u2018Oh my gosh, if I say certain things, will I lose some of the audience that watches my shows, and that watch the daytime shows, and will I lose this?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
