After Olympic skater Gabriella Papadakis<\/strong>\u2019s controversial memoir was released earlier this week, NBC is making a change to their broadcast team.<\/p>\n
The French ice dancer released her book, Pour ne pas dispara\u00eetre (So as Not to Disappear)<\/em>, on Thursday, January 17. Soon after, NBC pulled Papadakis off their Winter Olympics coverage because of what the network is calling a \u201cconflict of interest.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe respect Gabriella\u2019s right to tell the story of her life and career. At the same time, her new book creates a clear conflict of interest,\u201d NBC said to Sportico<\/em> in a statement. \u201cOur responsibility is to deliver coverage that our audience can trust to be free of bias\u2014whether actual or perceived\u2014and we regret that is no longer possible given the circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the book, Papadakis, 30, describes her former partner, Guillaume Cizeron<\/strong>, as \u201ccontrolling, demanding\u201d and \u201ccritical\u201d during their time as partners.<\/p>\n

She added that eventually she refused to skate with him without a coach present and often felt she was \u201cunder his grip.\u201d<\/p>\n
Papadakis told Agence France-Presse<\/em> earlier this week that NBC called her \u201ca few days ago because after the cease-and-desist from my former partner, they changed their minds, which makes me very sad.\u201d<\/p>\n
She has worked for NBC as recently as last week, providing ice dance analysis at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.<\/p>\n
Cizeron responded to Papadakis\u2019 allegations via a statement to French media on Thursday, calling the memoir a \u201csmear campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
