Jessica Simpson<\/strong> is leaning into her roots \u2014 no matter how fishy.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m back on set with Chicken of the Sea to record their jingle,\u201d Simpson, 45, said in a Wednesday, January 14, social media video, showcasinging the singer back in the recording studio.<\/p>\n

Simpson subsequently belted the tuna brand\u2019s iconic jingle, \u201cAsk any mermaid you happen to see, what\u2019s the best chicken?\u201d<\/p>\n

Simpson, however, quickly realized that she didn\u2019t have the lyrics correct.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJessica Simpson has come a long way since introducing herself to the world as a young singer with memorable pipes. Simpson made her mark with songs such as \u201cI Wanna Love You Forever, \u201cIrresistible,\u201d \u201cWith You\u201d and \u201cTake My Breath Away\u201d at the turn of the century. After marrying longtime boyfriend Nick Lachey in October [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWait, that\u2019s not right,\u201d she quipped. \u201cI\u2019m too hungry for this. Can we take a break? \u2026 Chicken of the Sea\u2019s Portable Packets keep me going on busy days.\u201d<\/p>\n

After indulging in the snack, Simpson gave the jingle a second shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cAsk any mermaid you happen to see, what\u2019s the best tuna?\u201d she crooned. \u201cChicken of the Sea!\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Simpson, it was \u201ca true honor\u201d to reimagine the brand\u2019s theme tune.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorking with Chicken of the Sea again to launch a new version of their iconic jingle was a true honor,\u201d Simpson told People <\/i>on Wednesday. \u201cI have been a fan of this brand for over 25 years, and I love their portable tuna packets (including their newest packet with Frank\u2019s RedHot!) \u2014 it\u2019s such a healthy, easy and yummy snack to grab on the go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simpson famously questioned whether Chicken of the Sea was actually made from chicken or tuna in a 2003 episode of her and ex-husband Nick Lachey<\/strong>\u2019s Newlyweds <\/i>docuseries.<\/p>\n

\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cIs this chicken what I have, or is this fish? I know it\u2019s tuna, but it says chicken by the sea. Is that stupid?\u201d Simpson asked Lachey at the time. \u201cWhy is it called chicken by the sea or in the sea?\u201d<\/p>\n

Lachey, now 52, looked at Simpson in disbelief throughout the now-viral exchange.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou act like you\u2019ve never had tuna before,\u201d he replied. \u201cChicken of the Sea is the brand. You know, because a lot of people eat tuna, a lot of people eat chicken, so it\u2019s like the chicken of the sea.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simpson subsequently stated that she merely read the label \u201cwrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simpson and Lachey were married from 2002 to 2006, chronicling their short-lived union on Newlyweds. <\/i>The show came to an end in 2005, one year before the pair\u2019s divorce.<\/p>\n

Two decades later, Simpson joined forces with Chicken of the Sea for humorous ad campaigns in both 2024 and 2026.<\/p>\n
