\n\tA role played by Timothy Busfield in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios\u00a0rom-com You Deserve Each Other<\/em> has been edited out in the wake of sex abuse charges filed against the actor, sources have confirmed to Deadline.<\/p>\n \n\tThe news comes as Busfield last week was charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and child abuse stemming from alleged incidents involving two minor boys on the New Mexico set of the Fox\/Warner Bros TV series The Cleaning Lady<\/em>, on which he was a director of several episodes during its four-season run from 2022-2025.<\/p>\n \n\tBusfield, 68, who faces the possibly of a decade in state prison if found guilty, turned himself in to Albuquerque police January 13, five days\u00a0after an arrest warrant was issued. He appeared briefly in court the next day and is being held without bond at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center. He has since been dropped by his longtime agency Innovative Artists.<\/p>\n \n\tHe has not entered a formal plea but has maintained his innocence. A pre-trial detention motion hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.<\/p>\n \n\tYou Deserve Each Other<\/em>, based on Sarah Hogle\u2019s bestselling 2020 novel, stars Meghann Fahy and Penn Badgley as the perfect engaged couple who are hiding the fact that they are sick of each other and want out of the relationship. The catch: Whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the bill for the wedding. Pranks and sabotage ensue as they try to get the other to blink first, but along the way they realize with nothing to lose they are having fun with the last person they expect.<\/p>\n \n\tBusfield was announced with the rest of the supporting cast in July 2025, joined by Natalie Morales, Justin Long, Kyle MacLachlan, Ana Gasteyer, Hope Davis, Delaney Rowe, Lisa Gilroy and Alyssa Limperis. Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn directed they pic, and the pair also revised the script adaptation originally penned by Brett Haley and Marc Basch.<\/p>\n \n\tFilming has completed, Deadline has learned, so Busfield\u2019s role as Bernie, father to Fahy\u2019s Naomi, had already been shot. No release date for the movie has been set.<\/p>\n \n\tAmazon MGM did not return a request for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
