\n<\/p>\n
\n\tNetflix announced on Tuesday morning that Marty, Life Is Short<\/em>, a film billed as the definitive documentary on comedian Martin Short, will stream globally on May 12.<\/p>\n \n\tPic is directed by Lawrence Kasdan, the filmmaker responsible for such classic films as The Big Chill<\/em>, Body Heat<\/em>, and The Bodyguard<\/em>, among others. Producers included Sara Bernstein, Meredith Kaulfers, Christopher St. John, Justin Wilkes, Kasdan, and Blair Foster. Brian Grazer and Ron Howard exec produced, with their Imagine Documentaries as the production company.<\/p>\n \n\tPerhaps one of the most successful comedians of all time across film, television, theater and more, Short broke out with his Emmy-winning work on Canada\u2019s SCTV<\/em>, which brought him to the attention of the producers of SNL<\/em>. While he was only there for a season, he became a fan-favorite for his portrayal of characters such as Ed Grimley, lawyer Nathan Thurm and \u201clegendary songwriter\u201d Irving Cohen. <\/p>\n \n\tShort\u2019s sketch-world popularity quickly led him to cross over into feature films. He made his debut in Three Amigos<\/em>, where he starred opposite Steve Martin and Chevy Chase, and followed that comedy up with turns in titles like Innerspace<\/em>, Three Fugitives<\/em>, Clifford<\/em>, Pure Luck<\/em>, Tim Burton\u2019s Mars Attacks<\/em>, and the Father of the Bride<\/em> films. <\/p>\n \n\tIn television, Short\u2019s other credits include The Martin Short Show<\/em>, Primetime Glick<\/em>, Damages<\/em>, and The Morning Show<\/em>, to name just a few. Also accomplished stage actor, he won a Tony, a Theatre World Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award for his role in the revival of Little Me<\/em>, and is also known for productions like the musical version of Neil Simon\u2019s The Goodbye Girl<\/em> and Fame Becomes Me<\/em>. Most recently, he appeared on Broadway in Terrence McNally\u2019s It\u2019s Only a Play<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tA two-time Emmy winner, Short is also known for specials like Netflix\u2019s An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life<\/em>, hosted with longtime friend and creative partner Steve Martin, which received four Emmy nominations in 2018. Martin and Short currently executive produce and star together in Only Murders in the Building<\/em>, Hulu\u2019s most-watched comedy series to date, which has won seven Emmys from 56 nominations and is ramping up for the launch of Season 6. Short has won multiple Actors Awards for his work there and is currently nominated for another two.<\/p>\n
