\n\tEXCLUSIVE: <\/strong>Cinetic has inked Toronto multihyphenate Jay McCarrol, the filmmaker behind SXSW mockumentary Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie <\/em>for management. <\/p>\n \n\tMcCarrol wrote, co-directed, starred, executive produced and composed the music for Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie,<\/em> which he created with his longtime collaborators Matt Johnson and Zapruder Films. The pic premiered at last year\u2019s SXSW Film Festival and went on to play TIFF with NEON picking up the movie for a Feb. 13 theatrical release this year. The film is sitting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from 34 reviews and was the No. 1 rated film on Letterboxd in 2025 and 2026.<\/p>\n \n\tOutside of the Nirvanna<\/em> franchise, McCarrol\u00a0is known for his work on BlackBerry<\/em>, animated series Matt & Bird Break Loose<\/em>, and has continued his longstanding work with Johnson and Zapruder on their upcoming feature with A24, Tony<\/em>, the Anthony Bourdain biopic. His work as a composer extends to Evan Morgan\u2019s The Kid Detective, <\/em>starring Adam Brody, and Finn Wolfhard & Billy Bryck\u2019s Hell of a Summer. <\/em>McCarrol has toured Canada as a pop artist, penned jingles, and is a former musical director at Second City.<\/p>\n \n\tCinetic Media\u2019s management represents directors, writers, and producers, including Richard Linklater, David Gordon Green, Todd Haynes, Chris Smith, Alex Winter, Jay Chandrasekhar, Babak Jalali, Atom Egoyan, Josh Lieb, Gabe Sherman, James Pedersen, Killer Films, and World of Wonder.<\/p>\n \n\tThe management and media company\u2019s other services include content sales, financing, marketing and publicity, as well as corporate advisory, the latter of which is responsible for representing and advising media companies, brands, financiers and publishers who are developing and executing entertainment strategies.<\/p>\n \n\tCinetic will represent McCarrol across all media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
