There have been many love stories within the One Chicago universe, but Frost and Novak\u2019s budding romance will bring even more crossovers than ever before \u2014 with some drama thrown in for good measure.<\/p>\n

\u201cA bit of a love triangle [will be] playing out here in the next, you know, five or six episodes,\u201d Chicago Med<\/em> showrunner Allen MacDonald<\/strong> exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> as the show returned in January from its midseason break.<\/p>\n

During the fall finale for Chicago Med<\/em>, which aired in November 2025, fans saw a spark between Dr. John Frost (Darren Barnet<\/strong>) and Chicago Fire<\/em>\u2019s paramedic Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon<\/strong>) after Dr. Naomi Howard (Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut<\/strong>) seemingly missed her chance to go out with her coworker.<\/p>\n

While Allen played coy about whether Naomi has a chance to win over Frost, he confirmed that Frost\u2019s romantic story line will \u201cinvolve a recurring guest star who\u2019s crossed over from another show,\u201d for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe One Chicago fall finales left Us with a lot of questions after putting multiple lives in jeopardy and teasing a Firehouse 51 shakeup that could change everything. Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.\u2019s respective Wednesday, November 12, cliffhangers have many fans reeling \u2014 and we\u2019re explaining them all. Med kicked off the night [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Allen initially teased Frost\u2019s love interest to Us<\/em>, saying, \u201cI don\u2019t want to say any names,\u201d before confirming Novak will be coming back and forth between Chicago Fire<\/em> and Chicago Med<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The showrunner also revealed that Chicago Fire<\/em> fans will get to see Frost crossover to that show as well \u2014 as love isn\u2019t one sided (or confined to one show).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt won\u2019t just be in one direction. Will be in both directions,\u201d Allen said, noting Frost and Novak\u2019s connection \u201cwill be covered on both shows.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chicago Fire<\/em> executive producer Reza Tabrizi<\/strong> exclusively told Us<\/em> last month that their writer\u2019s room is just as excited to see the crossover love story play out. However, he said Novak\u2019s feelings for Frost may cause issues with paramedic Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith<\/strong>) and firefighter Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Tabrizi explained, \u201cThe dynamic of Novak and Vasquez now with Frost involved \u2014 and obviously what happened in the fall finale with Vasquez and Violet, and how they, by default, ended up in close proximity, and didn\u2019t want to stop drinking for the night \u2014 that is something that they\u2019ll [explore] more.\u201d<\/p>\n

He teased, \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of twists and turns,\u201d revealing the group dynamic is \u201cgoing to be interesting to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

During Chicago Fire\u2019<\/em>s fall finale in November 2025, Vasquez was surprised outside the firehouse by his criminal father, who was released from jail without any notice. After his dad took his car back, Vasquez was left without a ride home, so Violet volunteered to take him.<\/p>\n

The pair, however, didn\u2019t end up going home. Instead, they went out drinking and appeared to start catching feelings.<\/p>\n

As Chicago Fire<\/em> fans know, Vasquez and Novak already had their own flirtatious connection, which could prove messy now that he and Violet are getting closer \u2014 and Novak is spending more time with Frost.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tViolet has experienced several romantic heartbreaks on Chicago Fire, and while season 14 will start with a breakup it won\u2019t be all doom and gloom for the paramedic. \u201cViolet has had some tortured relationships in the past and is coming off some serious heartbreak,\u201d showrunner Andrea Newman exclusively told Us Weekly on Thursday, September 25, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When asked whether there could be a \u201clove square\u201d happening, Tabrizi told Us<\/em>, \u201cIt seems that way.\u201d<\/p>\n
