Brandin Cooks<\/strong> is still<\/em> fired up over the uber-controversial potential-catch-ruled-interception … and he\u2019s not holding back!<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The Buffalo Bills wide receiver (momentarily) reeled in a deep ball in overtime of Sunday\u2019s Divisional Round matchup with Denver, which would’ve put the Bills in field goal range — except Broncos cornerback Ja\u2019Quan McMillian<\/strong> yanked the ball away.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Referees controversially ruled it an interception<\/strong> in favor of McMillian … but Cooks disagrees, telling NFL Network he caught the ball, full stop.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day, it was a catch,\u201d Cooks said. \u201cNot just what it looked like, but what it felt like. You see examples throughout the league all year and in previous years, and you\u2019re like, \u2018Wait a minute. If that was a catch, then there\u2019s no-brainer that this was a catch.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The play couldn\u2019t be challenged because it was overtime. Cooks said he was hopeful the referees would overturn their initial ruling, but he doesn\u2019t think they spent enough time to ensure they made the correct call.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Denver went on to win the game on the ensuing drive.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\u201cGiven the magnitude of that game and the situation, it\u2019s a little disappointing,\u201d Cooks said. \u201cI really feel in my heart of hearts that I caught that ball. It doesn\u2019t matter what I think or what I know, I\u2019m sitting here not playing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

While he’s channeling that frustration into motivation, Cooks wasn\u2019t just talking about himself — he\u2019s got his eye on teammate Keon<\/strong> Coleman<\/strong>, who also found himself in the middle of controversy this week.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Bills owner Terry Pegula<\/strong> ripped<\/strong> fired coach Sean McDermott<\/strong> for wanting the receiver in the 2024 draft — all while the player’s still on the team. But Cooks is stepping up as a good teammate to defend Coleman.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\u201cTypically, you don\u2019t hear those things,\u201d Cooks said, \u201cbut when you hear it, you\u2019re like, \u2018Well, am I wanted? And if not, then what do I do?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\u201cI think Keon can play this game at a high level, I really do. He\u2019s going to continue to grow. I also think he\u2019s misunderstood — he\u2019s a young kid, he\u2019s still trying to figure it out … because obviously there\u2019s talent there. The guy can make plays. He\u2019s going to continue to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Bottom line, Cooks is all in on helping Keon reach the next level.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
