Derek Hough<\/strong> and wife Hayley Erbert<\/strong> are sharing insight into how they chose their newborn baby girl\u2019s name, Everley Capri.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverley was always at the top of a list that I had,\u201d Erbert, 31, told People<\/em> in an interview published on Wednesday, January 21. \u201cI actually saw this post the other day that was like, \u2018It\u2019s crazy that I\u2019ve seen your name in my notes app for so long, and now you\u2019re here with me.\u2019 I was like, \u2018That\u2019s exactly what it\u2019s been.\u2019 Her name has always had a little star by it because there were a few that we really liked.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erbert added that she and Hough, 40, took \u201cfour or five days\u201d to decide on a name, and their choice ultimately came down to a gut feeling.<\/p>\n

\u201c[We decided] to keep staring at her and see what name calls to us,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

As for the spelling of Everley, the couple said they wanted to match the last three letters of Erbert\u2019s own name, Hayley.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very intentional, the way we spelled it,\u201d Hough added.<\/p>\n

The new parents also looked into the numerology behind \u201cEverley\u201d after a friend encouraged them to do so and found out that it was a master number of 11. This made them feel even more confident that they chose the right moniker, as Erbert saw the number 11 \u201call over.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was 11 days late, I\u2019m born on October 11,\u201d she said. \u201cIt just called to us, and we were like, \u2018This is right. This is it.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Numerology is the belief in a mystical relationship between numbers and life events, similar to astrology.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether you believe in that kind of stuff or not, it was cool,\u201d Hough said. \u201cWhen we looked at the meanings of it, it was like, \u2018OK, this is beautiful. We love this.\u2019 It felt right. It just was a feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hough and Erbert also explained the meaning behind the middle name \u201cCapri,\u201d revealing that the Dancing With the Stars<\/em> judge initially wanted to incorporate \u201crain\u201d or \u201cbow\u201d in the name to honor the fact that Everley is their rainbow baby following a devastating miscarriage. However, the couple ultimately went in a different direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we threw Capri in there, we were like, \u2018Oh my gosh, this is beautiful,\u2019\u201d Erbert said, while Hough added, \u201cCapri is the little spicy part of her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hough and Erbert, who tied the knot in 2023, announced Everley\u2019s birth on January 5.<\/p>\n
