\n\tIn presenting the first episode of the season at the TCL Chinese Theatre last week, the creator commemorated \u201cthose who we lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCloud, who portrayed Fezco in the first two seasons of\u00a0Euphoria<\/em>,\u00a0died in 2023\u00a0from \u201cacute intoxication\u201d at the age of 25 in Oakland, Calif. Turen unexpectedly died a month afterward, at the age of 44. Dane was able to reprise his role in the third season of the HBO drama before his death in February; the actor\u00a0died of of respiratory failure\u00a0with ALS as a contributing cause.<\/p>\n \n\tWhile Cal (Dane), Nate\u2019s (Jacob Elordi) father, doesn\u2019t appear in the season premiere, he will be featured later on. Though it\u2019s unclear how the show will address the character\u2019s departure, Levinson told Extra<\/em> that he adjusted his writing in real time to factor in Dane\u2019s health. \u201cHe showed up and I could tell he had a slight slur in his voice and he told me that. I said, \u2018Don\u2019t worry. We\u2019ll just put, like, five beer bottles in front of you and you\u2019ve been drinking all night.\u2019 He was like, \u2018Perfect, perfect.\u2019 And his character, it was such a gift.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tContrastingly, Season 3 includes a scene in which Rue (Zendaya) visits her erstwhile high school friend Lexi (Maude Apatow) in Los Angeles, where she now works as an assistant to a famed TV executive (Sharon Stone); while there, she urges Lexi to call Fez, with whom it seemed she would embark on a romance last season. In the show\u2019s canon, Fez is serving 30 years in prison but still misses Lexi, despite not having been in contact for years.<\/p>\n \n\tOf the decision to conclude Fez\u2019s journey that way, Levinson told Entertainment Weekly:<\/em> <\/em>\u201cI fought very hard to keep him clean when he was alive, and losing him was really tough,\u201d adding, \u201cI felt like if I couldn\u2019t keep him alive in life, then, I could in the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
