\n\tGugu Mbatha-Raw (Loki<\/em>) <\/em>is leading a BBC sci-fi drama about space travel.<\/p>\n \n\tMbatha-Raw will star alongside Stuart Martin\u00a0(Army of Thieves, In Flight, Rebel Moon<\/em>) and\u00a0Iain De Caestecker\u00a0(Roadkill, The Winter King, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D<\/em>) in Sutherland, <\/em>which is set in a near future in the far north of Scotland. <\/p>\n \n\tMbatha-Raw is Mirren, who works at\u00a0Paravel Space Hub\u00a0as flight director for the UK\u2019s first crewed mission to the stars. Everything is going to plan when, just hours after launch, a series of unexplained events engulf Sutherland in mystery and risks destroying everything Mirren\u2019s been striving for. \u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe show is timely, coming a few days after the Artemis II rocket returned from the moon. Apple TV, meanwhile, is soon to launch Soviet space drama Star City.<\/em><\/p>\n \n\tLine of Duty <\/em>producer World Productions is delving into the sci-fi world by producing Sutherland. <\/em>It is created by All Her Fault <\/em>scribe James Smythe. Mbatha-Raw previously starred in The Girl Before, <\/em>a spooky BBC drama adapted from the JP Delaney book co-produced with HBO. <\/p>\n \n\tSutherland\u00a0<\/em>is produced by World Productions in association with ITV Studios, which will distribute the series internationally. The series was commissioned by Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, and Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning for BBC Scotland.\u00a0<\/em>It is written by\u00a0Smythe,\u00a0Laura Grace, Tom Mair\u00a0and\u00a0Helen Kingston, and directed by\u00a0Chlo\u00eb Wicks\u00a0and\u00a0Patrick Harkins.\u00a0The producer is\u00a0Clare Kerr. The executive producers are\u00a0Jake\u00a0Lushington, Simon Heath\u00a0and\u00a0George Aza-Selinger\u00a0for World Productions Scotland,\u00a0Gaynor Holmes\u00a0for the BBC,\u00a0Gavin Smith\u00a0for BBC Scotland, and\u00a0Smythe.
