Being responsible for a successful show such as Tracker<\/em> comes with its challenges \u2014 and has kept star Justin Hartley<\/strong> too busy.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe lives and breathes Tracker,\u201d Hartley\u2019s costar Fiona Rene<\/strong> exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> at CBS Fest on Wednesday, April 15. \u201cWe were joking around the other day. He was like, \u2018I used to have a life. I used to have friends.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Rene praised Hartley\u2019s devotion to his job.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019ve learned specifically is his attention to detail while we\u2019re shooting,\u201d she added. \u201cNot only is he at home reviewing the scenes and making sure that he feels good about everything and coming to set and doing his role, but he comes in as his executive producer and goes through and says, \u2018Wow, this moment didn\u2019t feel right on your seat. Let me talk to you about this. Let me feel this out.\u2019 He\u2019s very, very generous.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJustin Hartley\u2018s Tracker costars have often spoken about their experiences working with him as the hit CBS series lost several cast members. After becoming a household name with roles in Passions, Smallville, The Young and the Restless and This Is Us, Hartley scored a major career success with Tracker. The show, which premiered in February [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tracker, which premiered in February 2024, follows survivalist Colter (Hartley) as he travels the country to help find missing people, track down information on criminal cases and more. Hartley reflected on the show\u2019s overnight success in a recent interview with Men\u2019s Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things I really love about Colter and the way we\u2019ve built him is that he doesn\u2019t apologize for his masculinity,\u201d Hartley said in August 2025. \u201cI think that\u2019s what people are looking for. You\u2019re asking yourself, \u2018What kind of people do I want to hang out with?\u2019 And particularly: \u2018What kind of male friends do I have in my life that I really value?’\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor was thrilled with the example Colter sets on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019ve crafted a character that is so emotionally evolved, and he really does want to get to the root of why people do things,\u201d Hartley continued. \u201cThe facts are that [executive producer] Ken Olin and I set out to do a show that was in fact a throwback. We wanted a new spin on a procedural, meaning our character would evolve over time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hartley added: \u201cHe would not just remain the same exact person every single week. We were hopeful people would like it. People ended up loving it. I think there\u2019s a huge appetite for this kind of show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hartley also hinted at how far the show will push his character.<\/p>\n
