It\u2019s the former that\u2019s in the front of everyone\u2019s minds right now, but it sounds like\u00a0<em>Secret Wars\u00a0<\/em>will be where things really pop off and wow audiences when it arrives next year.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Fandango, Kevin Feige gave a few cryptic teases about this new duology. As he tells it, the two movies will be linked in a \u201cvery different way\u201d than how <em>Infinity War\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Endgame <\/em>operated. Before its official title, <em>Endgame <\/em>was originally just \u201c<em>Infinity War Part II<\/em>,\u201d and anyone expecting another \u201cPart I\/Part II\u201d scenario should probably adjust their expectations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"not-prose video-container\"><noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kevin Feige &amp; the Russo Brothers on Why They Brought Back RDJ &amp; Chris Evans in \u2018Avengers: Doomsday\u2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/s3atl9B47fw?start=677&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/div>\n<p>In fact, for as many swings Marvel\u2019s taking with <em>Avengers: Doomsday,\u00a0<\/em>it sounds like\u00a0<em>Secret Wars\u00a0<\/em>will take some real big ones. Feige called it \u201cas ambitious a project as we\u2019ve ever embarked on.\u201d Big words, given the MCU\u2019s pedigree over the years, but not entirely unexpected. The Multiverse Saga\u2019s been all over the place, but it\u2019s been clear for years that Marvel\u2019s wanted it to go out with a bang and use it as an opportunity to do things it couldn\u2019t do before, either legally or creatively. After all, you don\u2019t get a bunch of veteran actors from Marvel\u2019s cinematic history back if you\u2019re not going all out.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll see if the studio succeeds when\u00a0<em>Avengers: Doomsday\u00a0<\/em>hits theaters on December 18, followed by\u00a0<em>Avengers: Secret Wars\u00a0<\/em>on December 17, 2027.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Want more io9 news?
