\n\tBefore diving into the ongoing maelstrom of Iran peace talks, Jon Stewart spent several minutes of his opening Daily Show<\/em> monologue to address President Donald Trump\u2018s fast-tracking of access to psychedelic drug treatments.<\/p>\n \n\tAhead of the weekend, the POTUS signed an executive order loosening restrictions for substances like ibogaine, which veterans groups have indicated helps treat symptoms of PTSD. While doing so, Trump joked if he could also have access to the treatment.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cHe\u2019s depressed, too! Hey, don\u2019t be depressed, sir,\u201d Stewart quipped. \u201cTrump won\u2019t be president forever.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tHe continued, \u201cBut I have to say, there are little moments in these Oval Office gatherings that are somewhat revelatory of the president\u2019s psyche and, really, a good starting place for any accredited mental health professional.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tStewart then played a clip of Trump\u2019s further comments, during which he stated he doesn\u2019t have time to be depressed.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cYou can\u2019t get depressed if you stay busy! It\u2019s a little thing called outrunning the darkness. You can\u2019t be depressed if the sadness can\u2019t catch you,\u201d the late-night host said. \u201cAnd to be frank, I don\u2019t think Donald Trump should treat that with hallucinogenics anyway. But if he did, would we even notice? If he took hallucinogenics, he\u2019d be like: \u2018They\u2019re eating the cats and dogs right near my beautiful ballroom. By the way, did you know I\u2019m Jesus?’\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tEventually, Stewart pivoted to addressing Iran, including one social media post following failed negotiations in which Trump promised that there would be \u201cno more Mr. Nice Guy.\u201d Stewart, doing an impression of Spanish ventriloquist Se\u00f1or Wences, mocked: \u201cSay hello to Se\u00f1or War Crimes,\u201d before fashioning his hand into the puppet Pedro and saying his catchphrase \u2014 \u201cS\u2019awright.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cHow did the certainty of total resolution morph into the uncertainty of total annihilation that Trump announced in less time than it took Karol G to own Coachella?\u201d he continued, before turning to face the camera as the sound team cued a guitar riff and a graphic \u201cCOOL DAD\u201d flashed on screen. \u201cHey, who wants an edible?\u201d he said, noting the 4\/20 celebration. As audiences laughed, he clarified: \u201cMultivitamin, an edible multivitamin.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe majority of Stewart\u2019s monologue involved a prop \u2014 a checkerboard with chess on one side and checker on the other \u2014 as he derided Trump\u2019s circuitous deal-making efforts.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cStep 4, The Art of the Deal<\/em>: Just say [the Strait of Hormuz is] open,\u201d Stewart noted. \u201cWho\u2019s gonna check? Honestly, who\u2019s going to actually check if it\u2019s open? Even if you have a boat, what are you going to do? You\u2019re gonna drive all the way there?\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tCommenting on the subsequent U.S. blockade, Stewart entered the step called \u201cdo the thing to yourself you don\u2019t want them to do to you.\u201d He continued, \u201cOoh-hoo-hoo, hit them with the old razzle dazzle: \u2018You can\u2019t break up with me, I\u2019m breaking up with you!\u2019 Now, at this point, haters might assume you\u2019ve been winging it the whole time, and they might be getting hungry, or much poorer, or cold.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe summarized, \u201cSo that\u2019s where we\u2019ve arrived at with The<\/em> Art of the Deal<\/em> \u2014 basically, it\u2019s a cycle. It\u2019s a cycle of demands and threats and premature declarations of victory that allows the negotiator enough wiggle room to, at almost any point, claim that they\u2019ve achieved exactly what they\u2019ve set out to do, ultimately achieving a nuclear deal that will probably be worse than the nuclear deal Trump pulled our country out of with Iran to start a devastating war that has killed thousands of innocent Iranians, 13 American soldiers, eroded our credibility as the leader of the free world, sabotaged the world economy and will cost the American taxpayers, who knows, maybe trillions.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tStewart concluded, \u201cAnd as that realizations sinks in to a population weary of your malignant narcissism and impulsivity, Trump hits \u2019em with Step 10,\u201d cuing up a video in which the GOP leader promised \u201cCuba\u2019s gonna be next.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cKeep moving to outrun the darkness,\u201d Stewart said, as the segment finished.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
