\n\tEXCLUSIVE:<\/strong> Prime Video has swooped for rights to Embassy<\/em>, the action-thriller series starring Anna Kendrick, Sam Heughan and J.K. Simmons, in six territories.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe streamer landed rights in the UK, Ireland, Canada, France, Australia and New Zealand for the six-part AGC Television series, which is set to launch next year. AGC, Ascendant Fox and Turbine Studios are making the show, which AGC International is shopping internationally, with Prime Video\u2019s UK acquisitions team licensing it for Amazon. <\/p>\n
\n\tWe\u2019ve also got word shooting has begun in Cologne, Germany and London, UK, and have additional casting news.<\/p>\n
\n\tAleksandar Jovanovic (The Gold<\/em>, Souls<\/em>), Lydia Leonard (Gentleman Jack<\/em>, Wolf Hall<\/em>), Mitya Savelau (3 Body Problem<\/em>,\u00a0The Crown<\/em>), Hasan Akil (Memory Box<\/em>, A Sad and Beautiful World<\/em>), James Murray (Masters of the Air<\/em>, The Crown<\/em>), Luke Treadaway (Unbroken<\/em>, The Serial Killer\u2019s Wife<\/em>), Stephen Odubola (Boiling Point<\/em>, Blue Story<\/em>), Katie McGrath\u00a0(The Ex-Wife<\/em>, Supergirl<\/em>), Alexander Karim (Gladiator 2<\/em>, Swarm<\/em>) and Natalie Mendoza (Jack Ryan<\/em>, \u00c1nnette<\/em>) are now onboard.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe geo-political thriller has been building buzz since just before MIPCOM Cannes, when it was announced Woman of the Hour<\/em> star Kendrick and Whiplash<\/em> actor Simmons were signed on to front the project, which AGC is financing. Outlander<\/em> star Heughan joined soon after.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe series follows Layla (Kendrick), a sharp and resourceful American diplomat, who faces an impossible choice to protect the U.S. Ambassador (Simmons) or follow his orders to exfiltrate a high value asset when armed mercenaries storm the U.S. Embassy in London. She\u2019s forced to rely on her instincts and the reluctant help of her battle-hardened ex-fianc\u00e9, Connor Wright (Heughan), in the tense hours before extraction.<\/p>\n
\n\tEmbassy<\/em> comes from writer and creator Rom Lotan, with John Strickland and Christian Alvart directing for AGC Television, the television production and distribution arm of Stuart Ford\u2019s independent content studio AGC Studios, Boiling Point<\/em> and Gassed Up<\/em> maker Ascendant Fox and Small Axe<\/em> and Constellation<\/em> firm Turbine Studios. Lotan and Strickland are exec producers alongside, Ascendant Fox\u2019s Hester Ruoff, Bart Ruspoli and Matt Mitchell, Turbine\u2019s Daniel Hetzer, Jakob Neuhausser, Justin Thomson and David Tanner, and AGC\u2019s Ford, Lourdes Diaz and Miguel A. Palos Jr.<\/p>\n
\n\tThough this deal comes through Prime Video\u2019s acquisitions team, the news of the pick up comes just hours after Amazon announced it had hired Apple TV commissioner Oliver Jones as Senior Commissioner for UK Scripted.<\/p>\n
\n\tHe is starting in May and will relocate from LA back to London for the role, working closely Nicole Clemens, VP, International Originals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
