Alan Osmond<\/strong>, the eldest member of the band The Osmonds, has died at age 76.<\/p>\n

Alan died in Utah on Monday, April 20, surrounded by his wife, Suzanne Pinegar<\/strong>, and their eight children, the Osmond family confirmed in a statement to local NBC affiliate KSL TV 5 in Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n

Alan was the eldest performing member of the Osmond family and the third child of George Virl Osmond Sr.<\/strong> and Olive Osmond<\/strong>. He performed as a member of The Osmonds alongside his brothers Wayne<\/strong>, Merrill<\/strong>, Jay<\/strong>, Donny<\/strong> and Jimmy<\/strong>. (His older brothers, Virl<\/strong> and Tom<\/strong>, were both born with severe hearing impairments.)<\/p>\n

Alan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987, however, he credited his faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with helping him overcome his medical challenges.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHollywood mourned the deaths of some of its most legendary stars in 2026. The year started off with Broadway performer and influencer Bret Hanna-Shuford\u2019s death at age 46. At the end of the month, comedy acting icon Catherine O\u2019Hara died at age 71. In February, Designing Women\u2019s Camilla Carr died at age 83, Dawson\u2019s Creek [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI just determined when I got it, \u2018Hey, I may have MS, but MS does not have me,\u2019\u201d he said in a 2013 interview.<\/p>\n

His wife, Suzanne, said at the time, \u201cHe doesn\u2019t ever use it as an excuse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alan and his younger brothers Wayne, Merill, 72, and Jay, 71, formed barbershop quartet The Osmonds in 1958. In 1962, they joined the cast of The Andy Williams Show<\/em> as performers and remained on the show through 1971. In later years, Alan\u2019s brothers Donny, 68, and Jimmy, 63, joined the group. Their sister, Marie Osmond<\/strong>, 66, also found fame as a performer.<\/p>\n

Alan largely stopped performing in 2007.<\/p>\n

Alan\u2019s death comes just 15 months after brother Wayne died at age 73 in January 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dear brother Wayne passed away peacefully last night from a stroke. I\u2019m so grateful that I had the opportunity to visit him in the hospital before he passed,\u201d Donny said in an X post at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWayne brought so much light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him, especially me. He was the ultimate optimist and was loved by everyone,\u201d Donny continued. \u201cI\u2019m sure I speak on behalf of every one of us siblings when I state that we were fortunate to have Wayne as a brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer added, \u201cEven though we are separated in this mortal life, I know that by the grace and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we will have the opportunity to be with Wayne for eternity.\u201d<\/p>\n
