The Farmer Wants a Wife<\/em> season 4 premiere started with a bang when one of the contestants revealed she was feeling \u201cbutterflies\u201d for the wrong man.<\/p>\n

While contestant Lauren<\/strong>, 29, was initially assigned to farmer Brett Maverick\u2019s<\/strong> group of women during the Tuesday, April 21, episode, the pair quickly realized during their first date that they weren\u2019t a match. Lauren then shocked audiences by telling producers that she was more interested in getting to know a different farmer, Braden Pridemore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was definitely a curveball and something,\u201d Braden, 26, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> with a laugh ahead of the season 4 premiere. \u201cI\u2019ll be honest. At first I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know about this. I don\u2019t necessarily feel good about this.\u2019 And it\u2019s nothing on Lauren. I think Lauren\u2019s a great girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite his hesitations, Braden eventually agreed to meet up to give Lauren a shot and the duo agreed there was a connection.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFarmer Wants a Wife is going through a major casting change ahead of season 4. Fox announced on Wednesday, February 11, that season 4 will feature farmers Braden Pridemore, Brett Maverick and Sean Cavanaugh on their search for love as they court eight women each. Viewers familiar with the format know that usually Farmer Wants [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI do think she made a good case for herself as far as, like, \u2018Hey, we\u2019re all here to meet somebody.\u2019 And she kind of shot her shot, so I wanted to respect that,\u201d Braden said. \u201cA lot was going through my head in that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Braden told Us<\/em> that narrowing down who would go home with him to the farm was a \u201chard\u201d choice to make with so many \u201cgreat women\u201d in his group. He added that he had also already become \u201cquick buddies\u201d with Brett and didn\u2019t want to step on any toes.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you believe that?\u00a0 Can you believe it?!\u201d Brett, 35, quipped to Us<\/em> when asked about the last-minute swap. \u201cI was like, \u2018Can you do that? Is that part of it? Can I switch?\u2019 No, I\u2019m just kidding. Braden caught her eye, which, I mean, who wouldn\u2019t? He\u2019s a handsome devil!\u201d<\/p>\n

Brett told Us<\/em> that at the end of the day, Lauren made the \u201cright move\u201d for all involved. \u201cIf she likes somebody a little bit more, I mean, go for it,\u201d he said. \u201cWon\u2019t hurt my feelings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tuesday\u2019s episode started off on track when Lauren and Brett were introduced. Lauren even shared during a confessional that she thought Brett was \u201creally handsome\u201d and her \u201ctype to a T.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I think farmer Brett being older, because I am 29, I feel like what we both want in life probably would align,\u201d she shared with the cameras, noting that she loves \u201clove\u201d and wants to find her \u201cbest friend and settle down.\u201d<\/p>\n

While their conversation was pleasant \u2014 she told the other contestants there were no \u201cawkward moments\u201d and she \u201cliked\u201d Brett \u2014 Lauren ultimately confessed she came away from the date without \u201cbutterflies.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then pulled producers aside to let them know that Brett was \u201cnot the right guy\u201d for her and she wasn\u2019t interested in \u201cwasting her time\u201d with him. Braden, however, was more her speed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d love to talk to Braden. His personality and looks-wise, it\u2019s so much different in person,\u201d she told producers. \u201cI know it doesn\u2019t exactly follow the guidelines, but I\u2019m so set on finding my husband.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is about me,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m not here to see if they like me. Of course, I want them to like me back, but I\u2019m a great catch. I\u2019m not here to waste my time, I\u2019m not looking for fame.\u201d<\/p>\n

Producers honored Lauren\u2019s wishes and gave her a chance to meet up with an unsuspecting Braden. While the pair couldn\u2019t have an official date, they did get a chance to get to know one another briefly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI decided to follow my heart and my gut and usually my heart is right,\u201d Lauren said as she walked up to the farmer. \u201cI feel like there might be something special with Braden.\u201d<\/p>\n

The twosome chit-chatted for a few minutes, with Braden praising Lauren for being \u201cbold\u201d and taking a chance on breaking the rules. They discussed her being open to moving to Illinois \u2014 despite not knowing where it is on a map \u2014 and what they like to do in their free time. Lauren apologized for being a \u201ctroublemaker\u201d before making her exit as Braden continued to look stunned by the exchange.<\/p>\n

Later on in the evening, Braden confronted Brett about the awkward situation, who gave him the green light.<\/p>\n

\u201cLauren was great, but for me personally, I didn\u2019t feel the initial connection,\u201d Brett confirmed. \u201cIf it\u2019s something that you feel is good, then go for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
