Matlock<\/em> is returning for a third season \u2014 but will go through a schedule change after a \u201ccomplete reset\u201d for the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked for it with the network. We had a talk,\u201d creator Jennie Snyder Urman<\/strong> told TV Insider<\/em> ahead of the second season finale on Thursday, April 23. \u201cI just feel like we had so much stuff to think about because we really landed the plane on this, and we really thought that was important because we didn\u2019t want to keep dragging out the same story, and the characters have to get to someplace real emotionally.\u201d<\/p>\n

Urman confirmed that season 2 would wrap up the Wellbrexa story line, which meant a complete \u201creset\u201d for the series.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we took this two-hour finale and really paid a lot of things off, what came with that was I\u2019m going to need time after that to really build the architecture so that we have it for the next seasons,\u201d she teased. \u201cI\u2019m excited about it, but I am also grateful because we needed a little bit of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe fall 2026 lineup is going to look a little different for CBS after some shows went through surprising changes. CBS announced its schedule on Wednesday, April 15, with viewers noticing some substantial changes. Ghosts, Matlock and NCIS: Sydney received a shakeup by having their premieres moved to 2027 for midseason. They will join the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Urman addressed possible disappointment from viewers, adding, \u201cSad for audiences, but actually really good for me and the writers because I want us to plot this new mystery and make sure it\u2019s airtight.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cWe had a lot of pieces going in, so we really had to create this new piece of it. I feel lucky that the network\u2019s giving us time to get it right because I don\u2019t want the quality to drop.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the official synopsis, the season 2 finale will follow the team as they confront \u201can unexpected final hurdle they need to overcome to bring Senior to justice for his role in the Wellbrexa cover up. Meanwhile, they defend an airport ramp operator accused of safety negligence in the death of a passenger.\u201d<\/p>\n
