Hold up: It\u2019s been exactly 10 years since Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong> dropped Lemonade<\/em>, and to celebrate the anniversary, we\u2019re breaking down some must-know facts about the groundbreaking visual album.<\/p>\n

On April 23, 2016, just days before she was set to embark on the Formation World Tour<\/em>, Beyonc\u00e9, 44, surprised fans with her sixth studio album, Lemonade<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Premiering alongside the 13 tracks \u2014 including \u201cHold Up,\u201d \u201cAll Night,\u201d \u201cFreedom\u201d and \u201cDaddy Lessons\u201d \u2014 was an hour-long film, directed by the Grammy winner herself.<\/p>\n

The singer, 42, took to Instagram on Wednesday, December 13, to share a video honoring the 10th anniversary of her fifth studio album, Beyonc\u00e9. The album was released in December 2013 with no prior promotion and included stunning visuals to accompany [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

1. Beyonc\u00e9 shocked fans by surprise-releasing her sixth studio album, Lemonade<\/em>, on April 23, 2016.<\/p>\n

2. This was not the first time she kept new music under wraps \u2014 she also did so on her self-titled 2013 album and later with her 2018 collaborative album with Jay-Z<\/strong>, Everything Is Love.<\/em> In fact, she\u2019s largely credited with popularizing the surprise album drop.<\/p>\n

7. The album is a conceptual song cycle, tracing a relationship from betrayal to reconciliation.<\/p>\n

10. It explores a variety of genres, including rock, R&B, country, soul, hip-hop and gospel.<\/p>\n
