Cher<\/strong>\u2019s son Elijah Blue Allman<\/strong> has experienced several ups and downs in the public eye.<\/p>\n The singer welcomed Elijah in 1976 with late ex-husband Gregg Allman<\/strong>, whom she was married to from 1975 to 1979. (Gregg died at age 69 in 2017 following a throat cancer battle.)<\/p>\n \u201cHe and I have such a bizarre relationship. We\u2019ve had so many strange moments,\u201d Cher said of her son during a September 2024 episode of Dr. Phil<\/em>. \u201cI don\u2019t really understand him. Somehow, Elijah and I kind of talk through osmosis.\u201d<\/p>\n Elijah has been honest about his drug addiction over the years, revealing in 2014 that he had been abusing substances since he was 11. Despite getting sober in 2008, Elijah\u2019s has continued to struggle. In 2023, Cher filed for a conservatorship of her son amid his addiction battle. Through the years, Elijah has released five records with the band. There is a sixth on the way.<\/p>\n Following a years-long battle with substance abuse, Elijah got sober in 2008.<\/p>\n Elijah met King in 2013 and the pair were married by December of that year.<\/p>\n \u201cI wasn\u2019t going to wait for anyone\u2019s approval and congratulations, just like I\u2019ve never waited for any of that my whole life,\u201d he told the Daily Mail<\/em> in 2014 of their decision to marry. \u201cThe way I eloped with my wife is the same way I\u2019ve done everything I\u2019ve ever done. I don\u2019t know any other way and we knew it was the right time.\u201d<\/p>\n By November 2021, Elijah filed for divorce from King, revealing that they had been separated since April 2020. Despite their split, Elijah and King apparently stayed together. They filed to dismiss their divorce in January 2024. The dismissal was denied and King eventually filed for divorce from Elijah in April 2025.<\/p>\n During a 2014 interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/em>, Elijah revealed that he started doing drugs at age 11. He experimented with weed and ecstasy at the time.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, it\u2019s just what you did, it\u2019s just what everybody did,\u201d he said, noting that he eventually graduated to other substances \u2014 like heroin and opiates<\/p>\n \u201c[Heroin] kind of saved me,\u201d he said. \u201cIf I didn\u2019t have that at that point, I don\u2019t know what I would have done.\u201d<\/p>\n King alleged in October 2023 that Cher attempted to kidnap Elijah in late 2022. A legal declaration obtained by Us<\/em> claimed that King and Elijah were reconciling their relationship when four men allegedly came into their hotel room and \u201cremoved\u201d him. While Cher was not named in the filing, there was an allusion to Elijah\u2019s mother in the documents. Cher has denied these allegations.<\/p>\n Cher initially filed for a conservatorship over Elijah in December 2023. Court documents obtained by Us<\/em> at the time stated that Elijah was \u201csubstantially unable to manage his own financial resources due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.\u201d<\/p>\n The legendary singer claimed in the documents that Cher was concerned Elijah would spend money he was given from his late father\u2019s trust \u201con drugs,\u201d putting his \u201clife at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n Elijah retaliated with paperwork filed in January 2024, claiming that he was \u201csober\u201d and \u201cpaying his bills.\u201d Cher\u2019s request for a temporary emergency conservatorship was denied that same month.<\/p>\n News broke in June 2025 that Elijah was reportedly hospitalized following an overdose that took place in Joshua Tree, California. The Concord Police Department confirmed to TMZ at the time that there was an unwanted guest at the school, claiming they were \u201ccausing a disturbance and acting belligerently.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s been reported that Elijah was charged with two counts of assault and one count each of criminal trespass, criminal threatening and disorderly conduct following the alleged incident.<\/p>\n Elijah was arrested again just 48 hours later on Sunday, March 1, this time after an alleged break-in at a house in Windham, New Hampshire. He was charged with burglary, two counts of criminal mischief and breach of bail, the Windham Police Department confirmed to Us Weekly<\/em>.<\/p>\n In April 2026, Elijah waived his arraignment on the charges related to the prep school incident, local outlet WMUR<\/em> reported. His trial is set for June 16, 2026.<\/p>\n In April 2026, Cher filed for Elijah Blue Allman to be placed under a temporary conservatorship and requested that fiduciary Jason Rubin take charge of her son\u2019s finances, according to court docs obtained by Us Weekly<\/em>. She alleged that Elijah\u2019s life \u201chas significantly deteriorated\u201d since her last conservatorship petition in 2023, which was denied the following year.<\/p>\n Cher also claimed that Elijah spends money \u201cimmediately\u201d and \u201calmost exclusively on drugs, expensive hotels and limousine transportation.\u201d She alleged that he is being held at a psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire \u201cin an attempt to restore him to competency to face criminal charges.\u201d<\/p>\n On April 24, 2026, a Los Angeles judge denied<\/span> the pop star\u2019s bid to appoint a conservator of Elijah\u2019s estate, citing a lack of \u201csufficient urgency,\u201d per People<\/i><\/span>.<\/p>\n The case was dismissed without prejudice, meaning Cher can file again at a later date.<\/p>\n Days after Cher\u2019s second conservatorship petition, Elijah\u2019s ex Kayti Edwards<\/strong> \u2014 the step-granddaughter of actress Julie Andrews<\/strong> \u2014 told The Sun<\/em> that she welcomed a daughter named Ever during her brief relationship with Elijah in 2010.<\/p>\n Edwards told the outlet that Elijah was not involved with raising Ever because he \u201cnever wanted to be a parent.\u201d However, Elijah allegedly told his now-estranged wife, Marieangela King<\/strong>, about his child with Edwards in 2021, which started \u201crumors\u201d within the family.
