Christie Brinkley<\/strong> is sharing an update on ex-husband Billy Joel<\/strong>\u2019s health one year after the singer was diagnosed with a brain disorder.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s doing very well,\u201d Brinkley, 72, told Hello! Magazine<\/em> at the City Harvest 2026 Benefit Gala in New York City on Tuesday, April 21.<\/p>\n

Joel, 76, married Brinkley in 1985 \u2014 the same year they welcomed daughter Alexa Ray<\/strong>, 40. The pair later split in 1994. (Joel also shares daughters Della Rose, 10, and Remy Anne, 8, with ex-wife Alexis Roderick.)<\/p>\n

Back in March, Alexa sang Joel\u2019s song \u201cThis Night\u201d during a tribute concert at Carnegie Hall.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tChristie Brinkley is sending lots of well-wishes and prayers to ex-husband Billy Joel as he navigates a battle with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). \u201cDear Billy, the whole Brinkley gang is sending you lots of love and good wishes for a full and speedy recovery,\u201d Brinkley, 71, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, May 24, sharing a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe was so excited to be able to perform for him, and I was sorry that I had to miss that night,\u201d Brinkley told the outlet. \u201cI was out of town, but otherwise it was so wonderful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joel announced in May 2025 that he was diagnosed with a brain disorder called normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), in which fluid builds up inside the skull. The announcement came three months after Joel fell on stage during a concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.<\/p>\n

The \u201cPiano Man\u201d singer canceled \u201call scheduled concerts\u201d due to his diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance,\u201d a statement from Joel\u2019s team read at the time. \u201cUnder his doctor\u2019s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBilly Joel\u2019s wife, Alexis Roderick Joel, is speaking out amid her husband\u2019s recent brain disorder diagnosis. \u201cThank you for the outpouring of love and support,\u201d Alexis, 43, wrote via her husband\u2019s official Instagram account on Monday, May 26. \u201cWe are so grateful for the wonderful care and swift diagnosis we received. Bill is beloved by [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Joel added, \u201cI\u2019m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

The musician shared an update on his health in July 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not fixed,\u201d he said on Bill Maher<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cClub Random\u201d podcast. \u201cIt\u2019s still being worked on. My balance sucks, it\u2019s like being on a boat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joel noted that although it\u2019s not clear what caused his illness, he suspected that it had to do with alcohol consumption.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought it must be from drinking. I used to like a fish,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Joel returned to the stage for the first time since his diagnosis in January, performing an impromptu two-song concert at Wellington\u2019s 30th birthday party in Florida.<\/p>\n
