20px), 720px\" data-pin-media=\"https:\/\/cdn.thehollywoodgossip.com\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-52287168-scaled.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-trellis-processed=\"1\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Singer Michael Jackson walks into the Santa Maria Superior Court on the fifth day of his child molestation trial March 7, 2005 in Santa Maria, California. <span class=\"image-caption-credit\"> (Photo by Carlo Allegri\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>And now, one of Jackson\u2019s many accusers is breaking his silence on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Wade Robson, James Safechuck appeared in the 2019 HBO\u2019s 2019 documentary <em>Leaving Neverland<\/em> and alleged that he had been sexually abused by Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>Through his attorney, John Carpenter, he posted this week addressing the <em>Michael<\/em> controversy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Michael movie\u2019s coming out and it\u2019s getting a lot of promotion,\u201d says Safechuck, 48, in the clip below. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s billboards and commercials and just people praising Michael and it can be triggering for survivors who have their own Michael in their lives, whether it\u2019s the priest who\u2019s close to God or the sports coach who\u2019s just helping the kids or the step-parent who\u2019s supporting the family.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Safechuck Speaks Out as \u201cMichael\u201d Hits Theaters\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/W7w3OwPAkrA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Safechuck went on to note that accused abusers often, ironically, subjects of praise:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur abusers are praised sometimes, even after we come out and tell the truth,\u201d he continued, adding:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I just wanted to let you know that you\u2019re not alone and that there\u2019s other survivors out there that understand what you\u2019re going through and that are there with you. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd that if you\u2019re feeling all the feels, then lean into people that are close to you, lean into people that support you and that give you love and know that you\u2019re not alone. \u2026 [T]elling the truth and telling what happened is a good thing and that it\u2019s part of your healing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Safechuck is one of several plaintiffs involved in an ongoing civil suit against Jackson\u2019s corporate entities, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Reed, the director of\u00a0<em>Leaving Neverland<\/em>,\u00a0told\u00a0<em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u00a0in an interview\u00a0that \u201cpeople don\u2019t care that [Jackson] was a child molester.
