\n\tJimmy Fallon just became the unexpected star \u2013 and puppet master \u2013 of the latest episode of Saturday Night Live UK<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tActress and host Nicola Coughlan was delivering her opening monologue of this week\u2019s episode on Sky One, joking she had consumed \u201ca staggering amount of cocaine\u201d to get into her SNL<\/em> character, as the crazy sketch began.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be hosting,\u201d she said. \u201cIt sort of feels like I manifested it somehow \u2014 it\u2019s almost like this place is like magic.\u201d Just at that moment, American talk show host and former SNL<\/em> cast member Fallon sprung out and shouted, \u201cThat\u2019s because it is!\u201d as the crowd erupted and the energy got wild. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s SNL<\/em> royalty Jimmy Fallon,\u201d the \u2018shocked\u2019 Coughlan stammered, before Fallon encouraged her into a madcap, energetic walkthrough of the entire studio set to prove the power of the SNL<\/em> host. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAs much fun as this is, can I just get back hosting?\u201d she asked. \u201cYeah, that\u2019s why I\u2019m here, Nicola: to teach you the biggest secret of SNL<\/em> that no-one wants you to know\u2026 well, don\u2019t tell anyone, but it\u2019s LIVE,\u201d shouts Fallon. You\u2019re the host, they don\u2019t stop you!\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe then took her into the audience, where they ruffled the hair of one man and met \u201cSir Paul McCartney himself,\u201d who was very much not Paul McCartney. \u201cEveryone in America thinks everyone in England is in The Beatles,\u201d he explained as the wild energy spread.<\/p>\n \n\tThey next bumped into Paddy Young and Ania Magliano preparing for their Weekend Update. \u201cGive them some news,\u201d Fallon instructed Coughlan, to which the Derry Girls<\/em> and Bad Mood<\/em> actor said: \u201cJack Shep\u2026 he does his number twos in your dressing rooms, later nerds!\u201d before slapping their notes on the floor.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cYou\u2019re getting it now, the power,\u201d shouted Fallon, as they continued through the set, past beefeaters and musical act Dave Grohl, who agreed to be Coughlan\u2019s \u201cbest friend\u201d and on into cast member George Fouracres\u2019 dressing room, where a short interaction ended with the Keir Starmer impersonator taking a bottle to the head.<\/p>\n \n\tThey then bumped into Hammed Animashaun, who reminded them the stage was empty \u2013 \u201cAre we doing the show?\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe show?\u201d responded Fallon. \u201cThis is more than a show, this is MAGIC!\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tThe trio then shimmied back on to stage, with Coughlan and Fallon embracing as the madcap segment came to an end, and the show cut to a sketch in which Coughlan sent up her film The Faraway Tree<\/em> with an explicit rap for studio executives.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s the faraway tree, and it\u2019s magic as fuck\/Thick leaves, Nicky C and a magical trunk. It\u2019s a big fucking tree\/Gets a new land a day. And you think it\u2019s big now\/It\u2019s far away.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAs the Willow Gate execs pushed back, Coughlan introduced them to \u2018Keith\u2019, an on-set caterer, who happened to be Fallon in character. \u201cMy name is Keith, I do the on-set catering\/For when the cast and crew\u2019s energy is wavering. Anything they need, you know I will get it\/Look there\u2019s my motherf***ing name in the credits.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAs the sketch ended, Coughland revealed she and Keith had \u201cstarted dating\u2026 and let me tell you things got pretty freaky!\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tSNL UK<\/em> returned this evening after a one-week hiatus. Aimee Lou Wood will host next week, and is no doubt planning to send up the American SNL<\/em>\u2018s sketch about her last year, which many thought breached decency standards. Previous week hosts have included Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan and Riz Ahmed.<\/p>\n \n\tEarlier this week, a Deadline analysis of SNL UK<\/em>\u2018s debut run showed the show had passed 86 million views across its official online accounts on YouTube, Instagram Reels, X\/Twitter, and TikTok, meaning it is consistently going viral \u2013 and this number does not include the various bootlegged videos. However, ratings on Sky One have slipped from 226,000 in episode one to 120,000 in the most recent one, and its streamed views on Sky\u2019s NOW are not even registering in online viewing reports from overnights.tv, the measurement company, meaning they are extremely negligible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
