Award-winning singer John Mayer<\/strong> is seemingly addressing the current political turmoil in the United States while defending his hit 2006 song \u201cWaiting on the World to Change.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf your car broke down, or let\u2019s say you got locked out of your car, and somebody walked up to you and said, \u2018Why can\u2019t you get in your car? What are you doing right now?\u2019 And [you reply], \u2018I\u2019m waiting for AAA,\u201d Mayer, 48, said while performing at HISTORYTalks in Philadelphia on April 17, according to a Saturday, April 25, report from People<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes there are some people who say, \u2018Why don\u2019t you just smash through the window and just unlock it inside of the car?\u2019 Some people go, \u2018Just wait for your roadside assistance,\u2019\u201d Mayer reportedly continued. \u201cTheoretically, now, I wrote that song 20 years ago. AAA hasn\u2019t shown up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer concluded, \u201cJohn Mayer makes an incisive remark at the 250th anniversary [of the United States].\u201d<\/p>\n

After a member of the audience requested that Mayer play his 2006 hit, the singer admitted that he received criticism over the \u201cpassive\u201d song.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a good idea. Sound and responsible,\u201d Mayer said of the idea of simply waiting for the world to change. \u201cA lot of people thought it was passive. It was too passive.\u201d<\/p>\n
