The actor was sitting at <em>USA Today<\/em>\u2019s table along with Speaker of the House <strong>Mike Johnson<\/strong> and his wife, <strong>Kelly Johnson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the back of my head I thought, you know, jokingly thinking, \u2018That kind of sounds like gunshots.\u2019 But that wasn\u2019t necessarily confirmed,\u201d Levi continued. \u201cIt could have been some things in the hallway, some tables that were falling, that were banging down. I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actor added, \u201cThe next thing we saw, everybody started to turn and drop. There was commotion. Everybody started to kind of hide under tables and the Secret Service were pouring in and trying to get to anyone of importance \u2014 anyone in the administration, any legislators, including the president. Gunfire was exchanged before the alleged shooter \u2014 reportedly armed with a shotgun, handgun and multiple knives \u2014 was apprehended. One Secret Service agent was shot in the chest, but his ballistic vest saved his life and he was later released from the hospital and reportedly sent home.<\/p>\n<p>President <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong>, first lady <strong>Melania Trump<\/strong>, White House press secretary <strong>Karoline Leavitt<\/strong>, Vice President <strong>JD Vance<\/strong>, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife, <strong>Cheryl Hines<\/strong>, as well as other members of Trump\u2019s administration and various lawmakers were promptly evacuated from the premises.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@usatoday\/video\/7632883744533171486\" data-video-id=\"7632883744533171486\" data-embed-from=\"oembed\" style=\"max-width:605px; min-width:325px;\">\n<section> @usatoday <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Secret Service were pouring in.\u201d  Actor Zachary Levi was sitting with USA TODAY at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association Dinner when he started to hear loud bangs. Trump said a shooter was apprehended.<\/p>\n<p> \u266c original sound \u2013 USA TODAY <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>No one else was harmed during the incident. The gunman, who wrote an alleged manifesto in which he detailed his desire to harm Trump and top members of his cabinet, is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court on Monday, April 27. He is said to be facing multiple charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen everything seemed to calm down,\u201d Levi continued on Saturday of his experience. \u201cEveryone started popping up from the tables \u2014 we didn\u2019t know what was going on. And we just recently were told they are going to continue with the dinner with some updates soon. The president has claimed it will be rescheduled within 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking to members of the press in an impromptu White House press briefing after the shooting, the president praised the first lady for her calm under pressure after she was seen visibly shaken by the sound of the gunshots.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank the first lady, that was a rather traumatic experience for her,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re not going to let anybody take over our society, we\u2019re not going to cancel things out \u2026 we can\u2019t do that.
