\n\tEXCLUSIVE<\/strong>: Nippon TV, the Japanese broadcaster, is stepping up its unscripted business in the U.S. and has hired former ITV America exec Nick Ower to help.<\/p>\n \n\tOwer joins as director of development and sales, unscripted. He joins after nearly ten years at the Love<\/em> Island <\/em>and Hell\u2019s Kitchen<\/em> producer.<\/p>\n \n\tHe will report to Tom Miyauchi, Head of Nippon TV\u2019s LA Business Office.<\/p>\n \n\tOwer has been tasked with driving the company\u2019s format strategy across North America and Latin America and will represent Nippon TV and Gyokuro Studio\u2019s unscripted catalogue to broadcasters, streamers, and production partners across the region. <\/p>\n \n\tThe hope is that he will expand Nippon\u2019s reach in the States and Gyokuro Studio\u2019s original development, working with partners.<\/p>\n \n\tGyokuro Studios, which is Nippon\u2019s inhouse studio, is behind formats such as social experiment Majority<\/em> Rules<\/em>, family game show\u00a0The Balance\u00a0<\/em>and culinary competition show\u00a0Cooking Rush!.<\/em><\/p>\n \n\tOwer was Director of Development at ITV Entertainment, which is also behind Queer Eye <\/em>and The Chase<\/em>. He worked on series such as Peacock\u2019s Love Island Games<\/em> and Love Island: Beyond the Villa<\/em>, Prime Video\u2019s Twin Love,<\/em> HBO Max\u2019s My Mom, Your Dad<\/em>, OWN\u2019s Four Weddings<\/em> and Netflix feature doc Longest Third Date.<\/em><\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe are delighted to welcome Nick to Nippon TV LA as we expand and build on our footprint in the Americas.
