Concert organizers confirmed that a crew member died while setting up the stage for Shakira<\/strong>\u2019s upcoming Brazil show.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe event organizers confirm that an accident this Sunday afternoon (April 26th) tragically claimed the life of a professional who was working on assembling the structures for the show,\u201d the official Todo Mundo No Rio Instagram account shared in a statement on Sunday, April 26. \u201cFirst responders provided initial care at the scene, and the Fire Department was immediately called to transport the patient.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement continued, \u201cUnfortunately, the professional passed away at the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert organizer added that they are \u201cproviding all support, comfort, and solidarity to the responsible company, its team, and the victim\u2019s family\u201d at this time.<\/p>\n

Shakira, who is set to take the stage for the free show on Saturday, May 2, has not yet spoken out following the incident.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness told France24 on Sunday that they saw \u201cpeople running\u201d on Sunday as the stage was being set up. \u201cWhen we looked, the structure was on the ground,\u201d they recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople were saying that a man had gotten trapped underneath,\u201d the eyewitness added. \u201cPeople rushed over to pull him out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA worker suffered crushing injuries to his lower limbs in a lifting system,\u201d they shared. \u201cBefore the arrival of emergency teams, the victim had already been removed from the equipment by other employees present.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement continued, \u201cMilitary personnel from the ambulance service of the 3rd Maritime Group (GMAR-Copacabana) immediately began pre-hospital care on the victim, who was then transported to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital. Despite the efforts of the rescue teams, death was confirmed.\u201d<\/p>\n
