Serie B club Cesena sent a sweet series of messages and gestures for USMNT goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann after he had surgery for a broken neck.<\/p>\n

The shot-stopper sustained the horrific injury during a Serie B match against Palermo earlier this month, when colliding heavily with Filippo Ranocchia.<\/p>\n

He was stretchered off in a neck brace and tests in hospital showed he had fractured the first vertebra in his neck.<\/p>\n

Klinsmann had surgery for spinal fracture<\/h2>\n

Delicate surgery was required and it inevitably ended his season, also ruling him out of the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.<\/p>\n

Cesena were back in action this weekend and had some very special messages for their absent goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

His teammates wore Klinsmann shirts during the warm-up of their 0-0 draw with Sampdoria, and kept a Captain America shield with his initials JK behind the net.<\/p>\n

They also put together a selection of clips of messages from fans to reassure the son of former Inter striker Jurgen Klinsmann.<\/p>\n
