Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong> caused controversy after quipping that first lady Melania Trump<\/strong> has a \u201cglow like an expectant widow\u201d days before the annual White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner.<\/p>\n

On the Thursday, April 23, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em>, Kimmel made the widow joke, which has not aged well after shots were fired during the event on Saturday, April 25. President Donald Trump<\/strong> was rushed off stage by the Secret Service amid the security incident. Authorities said the suspect, identified as Cole Allen<\/strong>, had a shotgun, a .38-caliber pistol and several knives on him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank the first lady, that was a rather traumatic experience for her,\u201d Donald told reporters from the White House on Saturday hours after the ordeal. \u201cWe\u2019re not going to let anybody take over our society, we\u2019re not going to cancel things out \u2026 we can\u2019t do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
