She was safe in her own bed at home with her family close, knowing she was loved. Thank you Lord,\u201d Nedra K. Ross wrote on on\u00a0Facebook\u00a0on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>Ross, 80, was the last living member of the Ronettes, who scored hits with \u201cBe My Baby\u201d and \u201cWalking in the Rain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band\u2019s official social media accounts shared a tribute to Nedra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nedra Talley Ross\u2019 passing. She was a light to those who knew and loved her,\u201d the post trad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a founding member of The Ronettes, along with her beloved cousins Ronnie and Estelle, Nedra\u2019s voice, style and spirit helped define a sound that would change music. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer contribution to the group\u2019s story and their defining influence will live forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Ronettes - Be My Baby (Official Audio)\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jSPpbOGnFgk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cRest peacefully dear Nedra. Thanks for the magic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Born in New York City on January 27, 1946, Ross formed the band with her cousins, Ronnie Spector and Estelle Bennett in 1959.<\/p>\n<p>The group gained popularity thanks in part to the \u201cwall of sound\u201d approach to recording invented by producer Phil Spector.<\/p>\n<p>After opening for the Beatles on the band\u2019s 1966 tour, the Ronettes broke up in 1967. <\/p>\n<p>Shortly after, Ronnie wed Phil Spector, who would later be imprisoned for murder.<\/p>\n<p>As a solo artist, Ross focused on contemporary Christian music, but was never able to duplicate the success she found with the Ronettes.<\/p>\n<p>In her later years, she worked in real estate in Virginia.
